Default TSP fast 92 intake/TB kit, thoughts?

Thinking of getting this. Anyone bought or installer this? What TB would you recommend going with? Hoping to pick up 20-25whp with the addition of these mods and a new tune. Hopefully I don't lose any torque. Seems like a decent price.

No I didn't see a mod list, but maybe it's because I'm on my phone. I'll be flat out honest and tell you i'd be very surprised if you gained 20 hp with a out of the the box Fast 92 over thw LS6 on a setup like yours. This comes form personal experience. I know others will disagree, but my experience shows more like 10 hp on a setup like yours

My signature isn't coming up for some reason. Just went into CP and redid it and uploaded a new picture, Idk, I don't come on here very often.

So you added a Fast 92 unported intake to your heads cam car and it only added 10WHP? I'd be interested in getting it ported, if that helps raise the number up to 15-20HP in that case. 10WHP just seems so low, that's barely more than an UDP. I believe you though, was hoping for at least 20, I'm sure I could feel an increase of 20HP before an after.

Yep I see your signature and picture now. Nice car btw. As far a my setup, I did not do any before and after dyno comparison, but have two good friends who did. One gained 9 rwhp on a big cammed LS1, and the other gained only 1 mph in the quarter mile. Both of these scenarios were fair comparisons as well. The 9 rwhp dyno gain was same dyno before and after about one week apart. The other was the same track in very similar conditions. So as you can see these were fair and legit comparisons. Porting the intake should help some too. Probably another 5-10 hp. If you're gonna do it you might as well get it ported to get every ounce out of it. I wish I did with mine. The bang for the buck is low with this, but at that point who cares Iol

Kinda the point I'm at now, without boosting the car, my options are getting limited on what I can do.

I've narrowed it down to a 92 intake and TB, ported 243 or other aftermarket heads, and a 25% UDP. I'm sure the heads will get me the biggest results, but they're the most expensive, and don't really want to tear into the engine again just for heads. If I'm only going to get 10WHP from a $1250 intake set, I think I might go heads and UDP then.

No question I'd do heads over the intake. That LS6 intake does pretty damn good on a basic HCI LS1. What about a little nitrous? 100-150 hp for less than a grand is the best bang for the buck there is. I'm really happy with mine. Can keep up with the big turbo and blower setups but at a fraction of the cost lol

i got ready to bolt on nascar 799s for 1200 shipped. got them from a member on here. haven't seen any for awhile i believe they are a 229 intake port which is a little too big for a 346, however for the price they can't be beat. i have a 236/238 cam so between that and the heads that are designed to be all top end with no improvements to the head to aid in low end, its kinda a turd down low, it doesn't really start to wake up until 4000 rpms, and is fully awake from about 4800-6500. not an ideal street setup but still beats paying 1800 for AFR/TEA 215 take offs that u should still send to the machine shop to be cleaned and checked which could be 200 or more. id do it again tho. you can't beat the price. i made 460 through a 9 inch. made 393 on a different dyno. had 241s, stock ls1 maf, ls6 intake, stock tb, slp lid. so i picked up 67 rwhp from heads, a fast 90/90, 85mm maf, and a FTRA 98 lid.....id say 45 is the heads, 10 is the fast, and the other 12 from the little stuff and better tune.

Wanna keep my car as a street car, it might see the track a half dozen times over the remainder of its life. Just want to squeeze a little more power and torque out of it. Another 20-30whp after a new tune would be great.

I'd consider ported heads or nitrous over of the fast intake... I only gained 13 RWHP going from an LS6 to a Mamo ported Fast 92. Mind you, that was a ~$1,500.00 investment that yielded almost zero SOTP impact. My $.02.

Ported 243 heads? Would you recommend the 90 intake or no? Lose any torque?

I'd suggest going to a smaller cam with those heads. The BTR stage 2 or EPS 226 cam would give you more torque in the 2000 rpm range than your current cam. Sure, you might lose 10-15 hp at peak but for a street car,. it might be worth the trade off.

Im not being an *** I promise but how much torque you can make at 2000 is pointless. You want to build power where you are going to use it. No car is gonna see 2000 rpm's at WOT. Even with stock cam an LS motor doesn't hit its peak torque til over 4000 rpm's.

Would a 224/228 cam be a little more torquey? Yes, and honestly if you weren't gonna race the car ever including the street then that might be a better cam for part throttle driving or short burst but if you are going to be kicking it off from a roll and rowing through the gears then that bigger cam is what you want. Oh and the FAST 92 isn't going to cost you any torque. It will pick up everywhere.

The ported 243came on the car so I was lucky, I would stay with a 90/90 set up or run an LS6 Mani they are awesome too, TSP 228R cam is awesome, good from 2000 to 6700 I made 401 with stock 241 heads and a good tuner. the cam pulled hard and wasv easy to tune and easy on the valvetrain.

o i definately would love to go smaller, but its a decent amount of work to gain15-18 low end torque. im also considering going to a different setup so i learned my lesson from going big cam. great if you are goona run stock heads, but if heads are in the future, stick with something a little smaller......i would like something like a 228/232.

I mostly agree with that, but I can also see why he'd rather have it come on sooner than 4000 RPM. I mean, I completely agree that torque at 2000 RPM is way overrated. But I have two cars with 4000-7000 powerbands, and while they're lots of fun, I can't help but wonder if they would be even more fun if they had an extra 1000 RPM to play with. The thing that bugs me about a 4k-7k powerband is that it takes a lot of shifting to stay in it. It doesn't take much deceleration to drop out of it, and it doesn't take much acceleration to hit the rev limiter.

I'm going to aim for 3k-7k with my C5, even though I know I'll trade off some peak power to get that range.

Unless paddle shifters suddenly become affordable. In that case, 5000-7000 should be plenty.

3000-7000 is a pretty wide spread. Its going to make tq at 3k and good tq depending on what you call good tq. These engines are just tuned to run high rpm plain and simple. When the stock engine has a tq peak at over 4000 and redlines at 6000 thats a very narrow window. The best cam for these engines I have seen from what I can tell from looking at the graph and driving the car was a 99 Vette I installed the cam and tuned about 10 years ago. It was the flattest tq curve I have seen on an LS1. It started failrly low and carried it. I will try to find it. Its on this forum somewhere. The specs were something like 230/228 on a 110. I think it was a cam Predator-Z speced.
