Default Exhaust inserts?

I have an SLP Loudmouth 2 I'm ready to bolt on, but I know it will be too loud after a H/C install. Has anyone found any exhaust inserts that actually quiet down the exhaust? I don't care if I lose a bit of power from it, but it would be great to drop a few db for cruising.

To loud? What will the rest of the exhaust be?

Long tubes, no cats, mid 230s exhaust cam on a 112 LSA. Loud is happening no matter what, I just want to be able to take this on weekend road trips without going deaf.

You could sell that SLP bullet and try a Magnaflow bullet. Still loud but a bit less raspy and a bit deeper

This is a solid idea. Not sure I'd add inserts in fear of losing too much flow. Replacing the SLP resonator with the Magnaflow or Borla bullet style muffler would be my choice. Google Borlamouth or Magnamouth to see what we're talking about.

I just put a flopro twister 41227 on my car after doing long tube headers and had a lm2, got the twister put on where the lm2 muffler was and it made it great to live with. The problem is that it now drones again, with the LT and LM2 it didnt drone but it was just stupid loud, i feel like trying the magnaflow.

I am tossing some very short bullets into the back of the car to tone the exhaust, and replacing the LM2 with a cutout. I was hoping I could install some kind of pipe insert to help reduce the volume a bit, since I'm not super concerned about flow behind the cutout.

Also I've seen the borlamouth, and that would be my preference, but if I use a bullet, there won't be any room for my cutout

It's not cheap but the best sounding and performing option is the SLP Powerflo conversion that attaches to your existing system.

I have used the moroso spiral flow and flopro twister mufflers before and they sound great but rob the hell out of power.

Do a resonator in the I pipe and two mufflers out at the tips.

Edit: just noticed the post above that says to do this

Too bad mufflex isn't still around/popular. Those were fairly quiet on big builds.

You could build your own though, it's a single 4" with a big muffler out back. If you did the flowmaster dual 3" into single 4" merge, and did a 4" with a huge muffler it would make really good power and be quiet. You could also do a 4" resonator or straight through muffler in the I pipe and get it even quieter, bet the ultimate big power sleeper exhaust.

I already have the system, and will be modifying the mufflers. I'm more interested in anyone's experience with muffler inserts and how quiet they can make the exhaust

They'll make it dead quiet if you put enough of them in there.

Why spend thousands of dollars making horsepower just to kill it?

What exhaust insert are you even talking about? The only exh that I know of that uses them is super traps and borla

If you read my posts, I've said that I have a cutout that's replacing the original muffler, and putting mufflers in the back. I will not be killing power. And something like this.

Inserts greatly increase back pressure, been there done that. Yes it gets quiet and low rpm power loss isn't noticeable but high rpm really suffers.

Add more inline resonators or mufflers. A fairly easy and cheap option is cut the muffler open and add fiberglass packing to it, opposite of making an OEM muffler louder by removing packing.

I had that Patriot auger very briefly. Picked up a 2018 Silverado with the 6.2 and proceeded to put a Borla ATAK system on. I like loud but it was absolutely insane at cold start up. I work on a drilling rig and got complaints about it so that says something.

Anyway, got one ordered and installed it, drove maybe 50 miles and pulled it out. It was a little quieter but completely killed my power, and over 3000 rpm it made a really weird and terrible whooshing sound. I ended up getting a bullet muffler put on in front of the Borla and it's a good compromise and my power is still there.

Have you looked at dynomax mini bullets? They’re straight through and about the size of a catalytic converter.

Well I'm just gonna install the mufflers that I have into the tail pipe and hope for the best. I may try to pack them if they're still not quiet enough.

I had a loudmouth 2 on my car. When I put a cam in it, omg it was loud. Even with high flow cats. Honestly the mufflers (if you wanna call them that) flow like ****. If you look inside them you will see why. There’s no smooth flow path, it’s like a chamber with a tube and the exhaust has to fight to get out of it. My advice is ditch them and find some better mufflers that fit. Anything would likely be better. There’s no muffling to that “muffler”.

The flopro robbed power? According to them it flows 20cfm less then a straight pipe...thats why I put mine on. Maybe I need a cut out for the track.
