It's really splitting hairs, but from a flow standpoint the oiled aftermarket ones like K&N seem to flow a tad better. That with a good ram air like SSRA or Chris1313 is your best bet

Well here's a free mod for you. I really don't know how much more power it really makes but my tuner says it makes a difference. I have not done this mod personally but I run a K&N filter with the Fast Toys 104 lid and I left the ram air as it came from the factory.

Yeah I know, but to be honest I have to wonder how overrated that actually might be. I mean I've ran them for years on many vehicles and never had issues. No MAF issues either. I did a lot of reseach on this a while back, and im not personally cinvinced the filtration differences are anything that will cause problems. I know over oiling is a common problem though

I was actually relating to how good they are in truck applications. Car apps might be better by comparison. And who knows how much of all this is internet wisdom....

Yeah internet wisdom and the lack of can get a bit confusing lol. For me it's one of those things where if I don't personally ever have a problem then I'm not worried about it. I've been running them all my life

The K&N filter is probably the most high flow. I actually have dyno results from between filters. From a fram paper filter to no filter it was around 15/15 gain. Then from no filter to K&N it was around a 3-4 drop. Mostly just run the paper as best filtration. Keep the K&N in car. If max performance wanted I put that in.

I'm sure that mod would help. Just don't really want to chop car up.

Not cheap but I think AIRAID is making some of the best filters on the market now. You can get them in oiled or dry versions. I got dry.

As soon as you take it out of the box you can tell its something special. The filter assembly or whatever you wanna call it is much more superior to the K&N.

I was sold when I watched the guys at engine masters test a handful of the AIRAID filters on aa 750+HP LS motor that was forced induction. They were sure when they stuck the filter on it was going to make less boost and kill power. It lost 1 hp and gained 3 torque. Within margin of error, so the engine didnt care if the filter was on it or not. They said the star of the show was those damn AIRAID filters. They just couldn't believe the engine made the same power with or without it.

Gonna set you back nearly 100 bucks after shipping

Airaid and Green are both great as well. The oiled filters will always flow best, but they filter a tad less too. Just gotta pick your poison

Only time I see it effecting the MAF is when they are over oiled

Yes and after oiling the filter try blowing the excess oil out with compressed air. The cotton will retain enough oil after blowing it out.
