Question 98 LS1 bolt ons

Have a 98 LS1 formula. looking for some part suggestions that a backyard mechanic can do for some performance upgrades. an exhaust i will get installed from a local garage. i can do throttle body, air system, air flow sensor, etc.

An LS6 intake manifold (OEM or Dorman) should be considered, along with the exhaust you mentioned. Which exhaust are you going with?
OEM throttle body and MAF should be OK for now.

Exhaust-slp has the freest flowing catback or true dual system. 1 7/8 long tube headers and 3 inch y pipe.

under drive pulley
ls6 intake or for nearly the same price a Dorman ls2 intake manifold over the ls6
ram air kit
larger throttle body with truck maf if you go with the Dorman manifold
handheld tuner or custom tune if there's somebody close to where you live.
ditch the egr and air systems
coolant bypass mod
if you have extra cash and feel adventurous you can do an aluminum flywheel

Yeah I forgot about the Dorman LS2. GREAT manifold, especially compared to the OEM LS2! DO NOT use the OEM LS2!
And as said, use the larger 4-bolt throttle body (no choice there..lol). This combo WILL gain power!

agreed, i have found a couple sources of dyno proven power over the ls6. Holley and WARR both have great budget friendly throttle bodies

that's bull.

i would recommend a better quality throttle body just on the shape of the IAC passage alone, but other than that, the cheapo TB aren't any more complicated to tune than the nice ones. there's just only so much you can do with a P01 ECM and the IAC.
