2001 Zo6 issues

So looking at picking up a 01 zo6 with 92k miles...Seller says this

Has an electrical issue currently that causes it to shut down when it rolls over 5 mph. It does that almost every time, but sometimes will let you drive away. I think it's to do with the security system since the security light stays on

What could this be? Easy fix or is this an electrical nightmare i dont want any part of?

Sounds like something that might be able to be tuned out. OR the speed sensor (VSS) is bad or has a bad connection.

I've been searching and have been reading that is could possibly be the steering wheel position sensor going bad????

Yours sounds more speed-related, UNLESS it's doing it while turning the steering wheel, which still should not be an issue.

Interesting! Didn't realize the C5 had this issue. You might want to ask around other C5 owners and feel this thing out. It could easily be legit, but I am always leery of a potential sales job.

Agreed. Also dont want to get into a car that i cant test drive. I could get it going and then it have other underlying issues like trans, clutch ect

I had this problem.....the one in the link. It had the recall/factory bypass already installed.
steering would lock...car wouldnt drive more than a couple mph .

I disconnected the factory bypass box and fixed it. Never happened again. I did buy the aftermarket bypass and installed it years later cause I was bored at work. Still no problems
