Default LS1 Intake with 92mm Throttle body ?s.

I have a LS1 intake going on a LQ4 with 799 heads, with a 220/224 0.585 life cam, I want to get a Dorman LS2 or a used Fast 92 at some point when the budget allows. Is there any draw backs on getting a 92mm TB with adapter plates now with the LS1?

Thanks.

Wait until you get the new manifold before putting the 92 TB on. Go ahead and get it if you get a good deal on one, but save it for later AND save the adapter cost.

It's an ebay special, for the price I will get it, so much for staying on track and on a tight budget, this swap will never get done.

Thanks.

Don't you have a TB to go on it now? In that case to get it running, do the adapter so you don't buy 2 TB's. I think we assumed you had the OEM TB for the LS1 manifold.

Hey man, you'll get there! The key is sensible, realistic planning. In fact what would be better is to FIRST get the Dorman LS2 manifold and adapt your TB to it. The LS2 flows way better than the LS1, and could easily make more power than the LS1 manifold with the same TB. And when you do get the bigger TB, get a good one. As said, the eBay TB's are shoddy and hard to tune.

Also been thinking getting the tbss intake, or the dorman knockoff truck intake. I think l have the hood clearance for either.

I don't understand why you would want to. If you want to collect parts beforehand to do the fast intake swap, go for it. Keep the throttle body on the shelf until it's time.

there's no benefit to swappin on a 92mm throttle body on a stock ls1 intake. None. If you want a little more power via a TB-related mod in the mean time, port the stock TB and half the throttle shaft.

First, a 92 won't work with an LS1 adapter. The largest TB it allows is 85mm. BBK makes kits for this and the kits includes a throttle cable extension. The adapter is about 1/2 inch thick, so the cable has to be reset outward.

Second, I would not waste my time or money with the LS1. A stock LS6 manifold will give you 10 or more ponies depending on the motor build. Just, but it on and use the 75 you already have. A used LS6 is about the same money as an 85mm TB and adapter kit.

98 to 85 to 92 that's called a bottleneck is it not? Go SD tune and shitcan the MAF.

I'm good on that for now. Besides the actual inside diameter is not what is advertised as the part diameter. It's actually a smooth transition from my lid to MAF

I'll have to disagree with this. You should be able to get any throttle body dialed in easily with any cam as long as:

1. You have tuning software to adjust your idle
2. You have a scanner to monitor your idle and IAC counts
3. You know how to use the set screw or are willing to drill a hole in the throttle body blade

My eBay TB required a small hole to be drilled, idled perfect after that and a tune.

It may be hit or miss, but the ones I've seen needed modifications to idle right. Maybe some people don't mind that, but I think most people buy something to have it work correctly as is, and not have to modify stuff

Holley 92 is hard to tune. It's also smaller than a NW 92. The WARR is the only ebay TB worth buying. Not sure how it compares size wise to the NW.

I have the WARR 92, seems to be a really quality part for the price and I have had no tuning issues at all with it.
