Default What muffler to add in y-pipe to quiet car?

Current setup is iron 346 with Procharger, HCI, 1 3/4 headers, TSP catted 3" ypipe and Hooker catback. I am not looking for a stockish sound obviously, just a little quieter than what it currently is.

Not looking to change the catback or y-pipe setup. I'm thinking of adding a muffler in the ypipe after the merge but before the rear axle. Which mufflers have people tried? I was about to buy a Moroso Spiral Flow up until I searched and saw someone here lost 30 hp by adding one in the y-pipe (could just be a defective muffler).

Any type of bullet muffler would work in the single pipe after the y pipe merge.

I should have been more specific. I am looking for reviews on different bullet style mufflers that I can weld into the ypipe. Anything to stay away from? Looking for something that flows decent but will also quiet the car.

you mean weld into the intermediate pipe? No room in the y pipe itself for mufflers. Not any that are big enough to quieten down. The Hooker is already one of the quietest catbacks.

Most people use magnaflow or Borla in the I pipe

My Magnaflow 14419 bullet muffler has a nice smooth and deep tone to it. From why I've read it might lean on the quieter side of these style of mufflers. But obviously any bullet type is going to be louder than other traditional type ones

as someone who also has a bullet muffler in the i-pipe in addition to a magnaflow muffler.... i can tell you that the bullet mufflers don't do too much. like HCI2000SS said, it will deepen the tone. +1 for the magnaflow bullet.

Exact reason why I got the Hooker catback. Had it on a previous fbody with bolt ons and it was pretty tame. With the current setup though (cam, heads, LTs and stall), its a different story. Which Borla bullet have people used?

Price is good, I may have to try this out.

Bummer. I was hoping a bullet type muffler in addition to the Hooker catback would help.

Any first hand experience whether this will quiet it down some? Trying to do this once.
