Hi I have my engine out and this is the steering rack upside down,
What is the orange cap that seals the shaft housing from the main body in photo, you can see it is damaged and it just sits there. I was told today they are no longer available. What is it called?

It's the pinion dust cover and the part is discontinued... Patch it up with RTV or you could search salvage yards or rack rebuilders for the part.

 

mine is black....i replaced it with a spray paint can plastic lid.....fits great

 

Thanks both for the suggestions. It is discontinued then, I'll try and work something out.
