Developed a leak at rear of water pump where the seal is bolted into rear.
ordered a new ac delco. Id imagine its a newer ls2 pump, it has the pressed in seal in back not bolted.
my question is regards the thermostat, i ordered an ls2 thermo too, but it seems my original thermo and housing will fit, the thangs slide in easily( i heard people say the ls2 will not accept the older style thermo. When i put the ls2 style thermo into the pump i have to push it down which pushes up the plate on bottom of thermostat. Does this sound right?
Yes i believe its the updated ls2 pump as these are the only ones available now. Just wondering if anyone who has done a water pump swap can verify if there is pressure on the thermostat as you push it in, ie- it has to be push down into it and the plate and spring pushes up? In the pic the thermostate is stitting in but it needs pushed down to tighten the bolts, is this right? Or should i use my older style ls1 thermostat? It fits perfect it seems?
Perhaps i do have an updated ls1 designed? My original thermostat ( old one piece type), drops right in no issue! But the internal hole within the pump where the thermostat sits against looks smaller on the newer pump
