Default Intake hose for speed density

Hey guys, have any of you who are running speed density tried this intake hose from intakehoses, com? :

https://www.intakehoses.com/charge-a...oss-black.html

I know they're not a sponsor, but I haven't seen anyone else offering this particular piece. They claim it's specifically made for most ls1s. I thought f-body cars needed a 4x6 hose, not 4x7, so I was just wondering if anyone tried it and how well it worked out. I heard the straight ones can be a pain to get to fit and sometimes hit the lower air box.

Has that actually worked for people? All the pics I've found seem to use the straight one. I had a 30° coupler, it was the right length and id, but it was hitting the lower air box. I actually couldn't even get the front of the lid to go down enough to meet the clips, that's how much it was sticking up. Just yesterday I ordered the one I posted the link to, I'll give an update when I try to get it on the car.

It worked for me, Fast toys lid to a NW102 TB, I tried a ton of different stuff and wasn't happy with any of it till I found this part, I work in the heavy equipment/truck field and have access to a ton of different hose setups off of intake charge/intercooler piping and none of it fit right except this, the one on my car is part# 22B-400X4 on their site but I have a 102mm throttle body so you would need a smaller diameter. FirebirdMuscle steered you in the right direction just buy it and trim to needed length (measure twice cut once). If you've already ordered the straight one don't open it just send it back and order the 22* one, the straight one will have a bad kink in it once installed.

I have an SLP lid and the exit mouth is super close to the lower air box, I'm not sure if the FTP lid is designed the same. Since I already ordered the one above, I might as well try it since nobody else apparently has yet and actually spoke about it. The guy over at intake hoses says it'll easily bend about 10°. It's hard to imagine it not working as it specifically mentions it can be used for our application. If it doesn't work though, at least I'll know for sure that the 22° hose is the right one, so I won't bother trying anything else. I appreciate you guys steering me in the right direction.

I think all of them are really close to the lid, theres just not a lot of space to deal with there, I tried one exactly like the one you pictured except for the color, I found it at a local Peterbilt parts store, it technically worked but had a harsh kink in it that whistled a bit when air flowed through, I put it in the garage and thats when I found the 22* thats on there now.

yes. The 22* I have used on 2 cars now and local friend of mine also ordered one from them and placed on his past car he had before selling. The 22* worked good in our cases.

before I bought the first 22* one I did have a straight 6” one from the same place and it worked but the center was creased downwards making the coupler really narrow in the middle of it. This is why I tried the 22* and it worked perfect on our 3 cars. I am still currently running it on my orange car. All 3 of our cars have/had slp lid to 92 mm tb’s

With my 104 lid to NW 102 TB I found the intakehoses 22 degree coupler to make taking the lid on and off a major pain. I ended up getting a 4" spectre 9775 accordion style bellow that makes it a lot easier to get to the air filter. I used a scrap piece of 4" exhaust pipe to go from my 104 mm lid to the coupler. Ideally at some point I will get a 22* bend in the 4" pipe for better alignment.

I also found that a 3.5" 22 degree street bend PVC pipe worked well to go from a blackwing lid to the coupler.

Great info guys, thanks! At least I know the 22° coupler will definitely work, I haven't heard anyone say it hasn't.

I like this idea too. If the piece I ordered doesn't work, which at this point I suspect it probably won't, I might look into doing something like that instead just to avoid making it difficult to remove the lid. At least I have options now

Just wanted to post an update. The intake hose I originally created this thread for didn't work. Maybe if I messed around with it for a couple hours I'd get somewhere, but the fitment was poor. It basically has no give, it really doesn't bend anymore than a straight one. I played around a little more with the 30° coupler I had and got it to work

Also, just FYI if you just notch out a nice rectangle piece of plastic that is on the lower airbox assembly that sits on radiator that is directly under the lid inlet to the coupler going to your TB, it gives you a tone more room for flexibility and not making the lid fit all funky.

I read some others wound up doing that, but I was trying to avoid permanently butchering things up. I'm just glad I got it to work in the end.
