Only have one cable running to the throttle body on the 01 SS and its ran from this round thing between the dryer and a starter solenoid. One of the two cables on the left side goes to the gas pedal and the other one goes to the cruise control/traction control module. The one on the right is the one that goes to the throttle body. I took another look at your picture and it appears that there's two cables going up to the throttle body, is that correct? I assume that is why there is a post on the NW 102 throttle actuator for this second cable.

Default Solved

The new throttle cable from summit racing arrived. It sucked paying 38 dollars for one especially after all the other stuff I spent money on, but it was the most certain, quickest, and permanent solution. Tick performance was offering a replacement cable for $199!!!! I've come to the conclusion that it's not the three and four digit price parts that kill you. It's all 5 dollar to 50 dollar parts.

I'm very happy, however, that it wasn't anything stupid I did. I was gentle moving it out of the way. It was probably halfway stretched out and moving it around did the other half. After all, it is a 20 year old part and not as resilient. It had stretched out half an inch!

the part number is 12565559 for anyone reading this in the future with a similar problem. NON TRACTION CONTROL FOURTH GEN F BODIES ONLY!!!! For the guys with traction control, there's a way to adjust it if you search the forums.

Wow, I wouldn't expect it to stretch that much.

It is really surprising to me. If anyone ever does work on the intake manifold and has to bend it out of the way, just get it out of the way, tape it down or zip tie it to something. This is to not keep moving it around as you work. I'm still in disbelief. I'm glad the new throttle cable is as tight as possible. Any tighter and the throttle would start to open. This is perfect as I'm sure there will be a slow stretch.

You are the man! I’ve spent a great deal of time trying to find one that isn’t “discontinued” these last few months.

it was definitely harder than I expected. GM labeled it as a "chevrolet performance" part under a different part number and that made it tougher to find it. I'm still flabbergasted that tick performance sells them for 200. That is crazy.

I compared it to the original. There is NO difference in design or material. The only difference i saw after inspecting it carefully was the little barbell that hooks onto the throttle body. It's a bit smaller in length and a tiny bit smaller in diameter as well. However. It still hooks in just fine. I wouldn't have noticed it if I didn't inspect them side by side.

This might sound like hyperbole and i hate to tell people to spend money and time replacing working parts, but I would buy this to at least have(if you have the non adjustable like I did). I'm sure after 20 years, all of the cables out there have stretched and will only get worse if you need to move it around for any reason. And who knows if gm will continue making this part.

I had overlooked that specific cable because of the “Chevy performance” title. I received mine in the mail today and am excited to get it installed and adjusted. I went to a 6.0 with square port heads/ ls3 intake and the Holley cable bracket I bought to go along with it just didn’t have enough adjustment left to tighten the cable. The locking tab on my old cable was broken and zip tied to the bracket when I first bought the car more than a year ago so I’ve been wanting to change the cable itself regardless. Mine is non adjustable just like yours. And much like you I was NOT paying that ~$200 for a throttle cable. Once again thanks for the knowledge!
