Different sized fans not working is BS. There are tons of OEM different sized fan setups that work great. As long as they have a good shroud to pull thru, they should work.

I don't think you're following. No one is saying that a 10" fan won't move air or that you only can use a 16" fan. The problem is many fan manufacturers don't move near the airflow that they claim they do. You can buy a 2000 CFM fan off Amazon or fleabay, but it's got a very tiny electric motor. It pushes more like 200 cfms 🤣. Compare that with motors from OEMs like Ford Escorts or Fbody fans and they've got huge motors. Key sign they actually push thousands of cfms.

Do you have the black plastic deflector that's on the front frame still on the car? That bounces air up into the radiator.

The more I read about aftermarket fans/shrouds, the more I like OEM setups. They flat move the air. And they usually pull 30+ amps to do the job. You need something that makes gale force wind to really do some cooling. How big is the core on OP's car? I'm betting a Ford Contour fan setup will walk all over what he has now. And run it with a PWM controller so it doesn't hit the charging system like a ton of bricks like relays do.

Now you're getting it. I remember someone did a test on LT1 Fbody fans and they moved something obnoxious like 4400 or 8000 or something just ridiculous lol. Anyone quoting 4 digit cfm's better have a serious motor attached to the blade otherwise its all junk. The 16950's are 1 of the few aftermarket fans that really move some air and being a pusher, 2 of them tuck in in front of the AC condenser and don't need a serious shroud to cool.

Are you referencing what I posted in post 6 or something else?

If so, it has been removed along with the windshield wiper fluid container because of the front mount intercooler.

The turbo guys with front mounts (like ddn said) seem to love the derale 16925 fan setup. When I had my turbo stuff those were the fans I was going to run and then I was linked to this harness which makes nearly plug and play.

https://www.racetronix.biz/p/dual-se...ss-hd/fnwh-007

you can make it yourself but if you don’t want to mess with wiring, racetronix stuff is a,ways super high quality.

I think I'm going with the DCC FK45.

Question

Update: I have purchased a new two row radiator without a the internal transmission cooler. It has two rows of 1" tubes. I'm about to pull the trigger on two Derale 16925 pusher fans. My question is: Since these fans are not dual speed and I plan on using the factory wiring to trigger the relays for them to turn on will my tune need adjusted now that the fans are single speed? The 12" fans I'm looking at are rated @ 2000 cfm so 4000 cfm combined. If I went with the Derale 16212 they only produce 1000 cfm on low and 1450 cfm on high. Then I'm not if they would fit like the 16925 due to their shroud.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for how they wired their fans up to run?

Thanks!

Go with the 16925's, they're excellent and move more air. I simply wired them up so that each factory harness plug powered 1 relay that powered a single fan. 1 fan kicked on for low and the other for high. Go big and let the fans do their job.

Just a quick update: fans installed and wired, new 2.25" core radiator with 2 rows of 1" tubes. Fresh coolant and water wetter. Installed new transmission cooler and braided hoses while at it.

WOW! Those fans move move some air. Running while burping they cooling system the cycled on and off a few times. Didn't hit 200 which is rare since the install.

Question though, now that I have these fans will the draw on the electrical system be so high I need to upgrade the alternator? No stereo system other than stock.

People underestimate how much air they move until they see them working lol. It wouldn't hurt to bump the alternator but it shouldn't be mandatory.
