Are there any DEI heat boots that fit over the stock oem spark plug wire end? Ebay has 10$ heat boot sets but they're advertised i think 1" OD. Id prefer to get a set of those as theyre affordable. The stock end measures about .80" but dont want to waste the 10$ if they arent going to fit. Just 2 wires or one on each side make contact barely with the headers the rest are clear. I used hooker headers on a 98 z28 and never had any spark plug wires melt but these are close.
I found some on Amazon that state they are 1.2" . I purchased some for my build but I can't find the brand or where I bought them from here is a pic
Are those the stock ls1 plug wires on the bottom end or aftermarket old school style spark plug boots? Yes id be interested in these any idea how much you paid? ill try amazon alot of ebay sellers tell me they wont fit and are advertised as 1" ID but i seen they narrow down on one end to .71" .The stock plug wire at the square portion measures .80" So if they fit over the top coil side the bigger 1" end may slide over the spark plug boot end of the stock ls1 spark plug wires. I could also just wrap maybe 1/2" of titanium header wrap around the two primaries that make contact harbor freight has 8" metal ties for fairly cheap. Id prefer the boots like you have tho. Someone i know uses that foil 1"-2" heat insulation conduit they sell by the foot and use from the factory protect wires from exhaust or high heat areas. They do look a little strange compared to a good set of boots like yours. Theres expensive header brans that have 1.5"-2" dei heat boots but are expensive 60$+ im trying to find an affordable ebay or amazon set they sell for 10$-20$.
I think i found them they advertise 1.2" did you fit them on stock ls1 plug wires or the classic style spark plug boot?
I am running MSD wires, but i'm sure the ones I bought would fit on factory wires. If the wires you have now are getting old or are damaged, purchase some MSD wires. I am very happy with mine

I have a brand new set of stock wires. Which ones did you get as for as heat boots?
Nevermind i seen you are the same person from the first post i may just get the 20$ amazon advertised 1.2" titanium heat boots.
I may give them a try. They have these 1.5" round velcro heat shield material with metal bands but i like the dei 1.2" heat boots. Youd have to get the heat shroud sleeve in 1.5". I seen someone else use the high heat shield material they put over battery starter wires compressor lines over the wires.
I went with these says 1.2 " width and to slip the sewn end over the spark plug boot first and slide up to the top of spark plug boot. The ad shows him with a video of getting them red hot with a torch and no issues. These say 12 month warranty I hope they are the same set and as advertised.
Autozone also sells a set of 2 heat boots i have only 2 that are close to the headers but expensive DEI brand and 20$ for just 2 dei boot covers.
Says to slide the sewn end over the lower spark plug boot and the smaller end with metal clip should fit up against the top of the spark plug boot depending how it narrows down.
