Default Safest way to install harmonic balancer?

What's the safest way to reinstall a harmonic balancer to an LS1?
Without damaging crankshaft end or chipping anything?
Are they always hard to get on?

Beat It With A Hammer ,, Lol Just Kidding, I Just Had To Tap Mine On Alittle Then I Used The Old Bolt To Tighten It Down , Then Took Out The Old Bolt And Installed The New One And Torqued It Down To 220lb..

You might need to tap it on with a hammer to get it started. Don't use the crank bolt to draw it on because it's too short and might strip the threads out of the crank. Get a longer bolt that's the same size or buy one of 2xls1's install tools for $25.

Also, when you put the new bolt in, the spec is 37ft/lbs + 140 degrees. It's a torque to yield bolt unless you buy an ARP bolt which may have a torque spec, but I don't know it off hand.

Send 2xLS1 a PM, he'll set you up with one of his pulley install tools. Here's the link to the page for more info:

AutoZone has what you need as part of their free tool program. Pay for it, use it, return it for a full refund.

Yea right. Show me the pulley installer here. Let alone one with metric threads. Want to guess why I won't be selling any more?

2xLS1 thanks for the offer on your install tool, it would of came in handy today.

But me being in Australia would take 2 weeks to get it here, I got the pulley on after about 1/2 hours worth of rubber mallet tapping.

If your tool your selling does the trick like everyone says, then heck you gotta be crazy not to own 1 as the mallet method is a ball breaker.
