DBW conversion on an LS1 F-body, retaining cruise control functionality
I’m casually tossing around the possibility of converting my 2002 Z28 to DBW. I know the PCM can handle the task, because C5s are DBW. It’s street car and I’m a heavy cruise control user, so retaining cruise is an absolute requirement.
Here’s what I know:
* I’d need a suitable DBW throttle body
* I’d need a suitable pedal module
* I’d need to run some wires/cables.
* I could eliminate my throttle cables and brackets, as well as the cruise control actuator module (the thing that sits near the A/C dryer).
Here’s stuff I think I know:
* I’d need to splice the signal wire from the pedal into the harness and wire it in to the PCM.
* I’d need to splice another signal wire from the PCM to the throttle body.
* I’d need to modify my tune to enable DBW. I have HPTuners, a license, and the necessary cables/adapters, so this shouldn’t be a problem.
Here’s what I don’t know:
* Would I still need the cruise control module (box near the AIR injection pump motor)?
* Will the factory cruise control buttons and switches just work?
* What pedal module should I get? Anybody have experience with this and can tell me what will work well and fit nicely in my pedal box?
* Is there more to this project?
I would also appreciate throttle body recommendations. My engine is a ~500whp LS3, so I need a four-bolt configuration and would prefer to stick with at least 92mm. I want to leave the door open for an intake manifold upgrade someday, so whatever TB I get should bolt right up to things like the FAST LSXR102. I am currently leaning towards Katech’s 103mm unit for the C5. There’s also FAST, Nick Williams, and several others.

Silly me, posting without searching first. I found this VERY old thread.
In that thread, I learned about Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) modules; it seems like those generally come in a kit with a pedal, like this. (That one says it’s for cars with a 58x reluctor, so it’s probably not the one I want — but I’m pretty baffled as to why the reluctor count would be relevant, unless that’s just a way to say it’s compatible with gen4 PCMs.)
GM had separate part numbers for OEM TAC and pedal:
TAC Module: 19245405, 12578953, 12580881
Pedal: 12565643
Those parts seem readily findable, but I’d still have to work out harness connectors, routing, etc.
I also learned that PanteraEFI had some conversion kits, but AFAICT they are no longer in business.
