Default Removing coils from mount

Hey guys, stupid question. I am looking to sandblast and paint my coil brackets. I can easily remove the coils from the bracket that bolts to the valve cover, but I can't figure out how to remove each individual coil from it's mounting sleeve. The sleeves are in the worst shape so I definitely don't want to just leave it.

Thanks

They're not really meant to be removeable. You'd have to unbend those metal tabs that surround the body of the coil. Might be possible to straighten the 2 little ones that go over the end where the primary connector is, but you also might scrap a few in the process of trying.

A better plan would be, use some technique other than sandblasting to clean them up (such as electrolysis), mask them carefully, and paint just the bracket.

No offense, because you've given some great advice over the years, but what kind of comment is this? By this logic, no one should ever repaint a car, fix dents or get new interior. I happen to be building a nice restomod and am trying to keep under hood looking as clean as possible. I don't need a lesson on form or function.

My comment derives from the previous comment- It is not meant to be removeable. That tells me that you could compromise something by trying to disassemble it.
Repainting, fixing dents, or replacing an interior does not compromise something as any of those operations are legit.
Possibly just clean up and detail the coils the best you can without disassembly.

I bent the taps straight on mine and clean then real well with carb cleaner and painted them with engine paint. I didn't break anything or have any issues when I put them back together

I bent the tabs on the coils I used, cleaned and then powder coated them.
