Default Best Electric Cutout

Who makes the best electric cutout? After searching I can only find two brands, QTEC and McCord.

Which cutout opens/closes the quickest?
Which brand last the longest?

I like the quality of my McCord so far. It is geared
down and takes several seconds to fully open so
if you want it to snap open quick that may not be
for you. But I think the gearing also has to do with
how well it will stay closed.

There's also another, a sponsor (I forget the name).
They make another cutout - check the sponsor/GP
section from like last month. I think they were pricier
but also maybe had some sizes the other two didn't.

You are thinking of Street Pro's electric cutout. I bought this a month or so ago and I am just getting around to putting it on (hopefully tomorrow). Anyway, it looks like a really nice piece and is supposed to have less leaking problems than the others. I'll let everyone know what I think once I get it on.

Street Pro is definitly the best looking, and probably performing and lasting. The most widely used I'd say is the Qtec. I had a McCord for several months and loved it to death. I miss it, but have duals now instead.

I have dual QTECS. Let's just say they have been a pain in the *** since day 1. Both of them leaked. I could actually get the pass side one to close, but it would crack open as soon as I went WOT. Lots and lots of RTV sealant fixed this issue. It's been a couple months now and the driver side is leaking again. The leaking doesn't bother me so much, other than it being a PITA to take off, put sealant around it, then put back on.

Lately, I've been afraid to open the damn things because I'm afraid they won't close. My cutouts will not open or close if they get hot (as in normal driving for > 15 minutes). Well, this is what I think the problem is. They get to the point where they just will not respond to me moving the switch.

Oh, and just for the record, I was very disappointed in the performance of my custom dual cutout Y pipe. I gained 6 peak rwhp and nothing under the curve over a Hooker catback.

I've got a Street Pro and have been running it for about a month. It's awesome! The design is very robust and has the best ground clearance of any of the cutouts by far. Comes with a very nice lighted rocker switch.

I have a street pro on my G/F 98 Trans am and she loves it. Very good quality.
I have a video here that shows how fast it will open and close

Thanks for all the replys, i am still deciding but I think I will be going with the street pros. They seem to be the best quality and open/close the quickest.
