Gentlemen,
I’d like to go with the following “budget” exhaust system but I want to ask the experts here on the board before I end up making a big mistake. What do you guys think about this:
Pacesetter Long Tube Headers-$280; 3” compression bent pipes; all the way out the back-$200 (Can’t afford mandrel bent); 3” generic crossover “X” pipe- $33; Welded 3” Turbo Mufflers-$90; The total is $603.00
Labor is included with the exhaust pipe cost, a total of $200. I realize most people go with a “Cat back” system with a “Y” pipe but it looks to me like the cat back with Y pipe will end up costing around $1000 to do. I’m not so much concerned with good looks, but I want to get maximum performance. Now, will I lose anything by going with this setup? Thanks for the responses. - Tom

I personally would wait until I had the money to get mandrel bent pipes. Pipes that aren't mandrel bent are usually inconsistent and create a fair amount unwanted restriction. If you want to make the most power, mandrel would be the only way to go.
