long tubes rubbing steering nuckle at idle I just picked up a 2000 SS last week. I havent driven it at all because I know that the steering nuckle is rubbing against the MAC headers. I can feel the engine vibrate in the steering wheel and I can visiably see the nuckle touching the headers at idle. What can I do to fix this? The car is lowered, A LOT. The front wheels sit about 1inch tucked undernieth the front wheel wells so I am thinking if I raise it up about 1.5-2inches, would this give enough clearance for the nuckle and headers. My friend has the same year, but he just had JET HOT headers installed and his dont rub, but his isnt as low as mine. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

my macs rubbed at first, but i just adjusted them and whatnot until they didn't......i've heard some people say you can adjust the steering knuckle or they have also actuallu notched the header a little......i would think you'd be able to move the header a little though....mine is still real close, but it never hits.....my car is lowered two inches too...
i don't know, but it seems like i read that somewhere in one of my many searchs on the header subject......with the macs it's really easy to adjust how they sit so i didn't have to go to that extreme, and i've never taken the knuckle apart so i don't know, but good luck with it.....
I just put my engine back in the car and my macs are now rubbing on my steering nuckle too. I'll be looking into this very closely tomorrow when it's light out (Today was the first day I drove it with the new engine 
) I'll keep you posted on what I find out with the nuckle.

I put the Prothane motor mounts on my car and it didnt fix the problem, it helped. I had to shave the steering knuckle and round it off to solve the problem. Or you should ditch the Mid lengths and get some Long tubes.....Jet Hots are awesome
