Question stainless works..size issues..

if i have a 3" catback and also plan to either go with a bigger cam or just add heads. Should I go ahead and get them with 3" collectors instead of the 2.5? will i lose power in the mean time? i dont plan on my setup to be over 440-450 tops....

well if they offer a 3" collector and Y whats your reasoning for not getting them . if you mean 2.5" off the collector to a 2.5" Y to a 3" merge collector off the Y into your 3" I-pipe then that system will work fine also.

well. they say that the 2.5 collector is good for a little over 400hp, and they have also seen the best gains with 2.5 as opposed to 3". i know 02firehawk had good #'s with his, but i want to know if going with 2.5 now will afftect me in the long run..

doubtful unless you're trying to go over 450rwhp. you may lose a few horses, but nothing too drastic. if you're looking to get every last bit of power out of your setup, then go with 3". period.

you'll likely never reach a power level where a 2.5' high flowing exhaust setup becomes a restriction.

so then it isnt a problem. cause ground clearance is also an issue for me. the car isnt lowered, but with the way the roads are where i have to drive around are just hell and i dont want anything hitting

I've got the Stainless Works with their 2.5" catted Y pipe. Great ground clearance! I put down 381 rwhp with a 224 cam-only car. This is with a lid and cutout along with STOCK pulley and TB.

yeah..ive read through your threads about the headers and havent seen any ill effects, but i also havent seen anyone run them thats pushing more than 420 or so...well i guess it isnt that bad to go with the 2.5 then.

I also ordered the StainlessWorks header with 2.5" collector and the 2.5" catted Y with after talking to Glenn and 02firehawk. I like the idea of the extra ground clearance because I am lowered and the smaller collector is a plus for bringing the torque curve down a little compared to the 3" collector. Won't get them in for another couple of weeks though.
