Depends on if you like crawling under your car and undoing wingnuts on hot exhaust

I have the Street Pro Electric Cutout and love it. Very well made. I decided to spend a little extra because of the failures I read about on the others. Plus, the Street Pro has much better ground clearance.

As far as performance, I lost 25 hp when closing my cutout with a stock exhaust on my 2001 with back to back dyno pulls.

Default RWHP Gain From Cutouts ?

We have been shown Dyno results on a number of applications from all over the country by car owners using our Street Pro cutout -- Anthing from Vets with the LS1 Edit done to F-Body's with max mods done and "sniffing drugs" --- the results are very consisatant at a 6% to 9% gain in RWHP on Open exhaust VS. Closed exhaust -- Hope that helps --

Beats the hell out of getting your knees/back all dirty and burning your fingertips to open and close the cap.

But you forgot the best part - opening it up next to
Fart Can Boy and showing him what a real rev
should sound like.

I say it depends, If you have a stock cat back or exhaust system then yes but If you have a good exhaust then no! Sorry but 6hp isn't that much I would rather have a nice flowing dumped exhaust! A friend of mine told me to do 2 electronic cut outs before my Y-pipe! the shop said that I would be very luckly to even see a hp gain from it! As my exhaust is 3" stainless y to a 12" bullet dumped before the axle! But that is also on a turbo car!

6-9 percent my ***. So a typical 450 rw lsi is gonna gain 27-40.5 HP. Sounds like you were sniffing drugs.

Beyond having to respond the above claim...the words "very consistant" are misleading.
I added a 3" cut out to a 427 RWHP Cartek stage two x set-up with QTP headers, Y, and stock muffler and tail exhaust. I ran 11 times at the track that day...Opening the cutout every other run and guess what... nothing noteable... I certainly cant even say I picked up half a 10th. I have seen 7-12 HP and a good amount more on boosted cars.

There is no question the street pro is the nicest available however.

After owning an electric cutout and dealing with the hassle of it breaking numerous times, I just leave my cutout uncapped.

I just got a Street Pro to replace a previous one by a certain other company that stopped maintaining any kind of a seal, and I really love it. I had a turndown put on the end of it and it really made a difference in the sound. It's not nearly as loud in the cabin, but it sounds deeper, and I think it's just as loud from the outside. As far as performance, I'll have hard dyno numbers next week.

I lost 24 hp on back to back runs on the dyno: 378 to 354. That's 6.8% hp gained on a cam only car. This is with a completely stock catback.

Right, I feel that a nice flowing exhaust system wouldn't benefit much at all from a cutout. Coming from stock is a different story.

its more of a convenience thing when you compare it to regular cut outs. if its against stock catbacks, ya it will sound nicer and make more power.

yes, you can basically put a cutout on anything that has an exhaust pipe, from a honda to a ferrari.
