I posted a similar thread on Fbody.com, I learned that even with a 427 stroker(was my question), you dont even need the 1 7/8, but until you've done the stroker and/or forced induction/big cam/head combo, you do not need the 1 7/8, i also have heard bad things about QTP lately, and better about kooks, one of the guys on fbody told me, that unless you're a real drag car, you do not need 1/8 over the outlet anyways, since the normal outlet is 1 3/4, you do not need 1 7/8 unless you are a drag car, also they claimed that doing the 1 7/8 on stock displacement will lose much performance as opposed to getting 1 3/4. Good luck, if i had a pontiac i'd do a 455 too but i have camaro, so yeah i'm stickin with camaro numbers(yenko w00t), anyways, yeah, go for it.

IMO, Kooks all the way, fit and finish are the best, I would go 1 7/8" if you are serious about your future plans, (don't spend the money twice)

Brian Tooley at TEA told me he had a customer that installed 1 7/8 headers on a h/c stock CI LS1, and gained 20 rwhp. he's a pretty credible source i'd say. an open exhaust is better, period. why do you think true duals work so well? go ahead and build a $10,000 dollar big bore stroker motor, and not spend the money on the right headers. DON'T get the numbers you want, and we'll see you in the dyno section going "what happened?" all i'll do is laugh. i know you're not saying "don't get 1 7/8", but why even say they're not necessary? they are.....its just as necessary to evacuate exhaust gasses efficiently and effectively as it is to bring in fresh o2 for the combustion process via the intake system you've built up. c'mon now

I agree...

hell I even run 1-7/8" primaries on 2.0 4 cylinders.....and picked up hp and torque from 1200rpm up.....

What bad things about QTP? They and KOOKS are primo in the market in terms of product.

QTP rocks.. the y pipe need a little massaging to get a good fitment, but the headers are top notch. I'd reccommend those to anyone.

theres no reason to have 1 7/8 really for power gains cuz the outlet from the engine is only 1 3/4, other than that i'm not getting involved anymore.
