agreed...the coated ones look great and cost as much or less than some competitors uncoated headers. you will be sorry if you go with the black ones. the paint is only intended to repel rust during shipping. when the headers heat up for the first time, the paint will start to burn off and smell fairly unpleasant...

Copy/Thanks. Good to know. I take it the car still runs fine, it's just throwing the codes? I have to check and see if they do a code scan on the smog stuff or not. My car's so slow, I may just say screw it and look for a new place to start. I had them go into the motor on some warrantee work, and it's not been the same since. My wife's '03 Tiburon bone stock hangs w/ me just fine now. But according to GM the car's never been in better shape.

Yeah, I know. I used to really enjoy switching cars, and trying to drive hers in a way that could keep up w/ mine. Man I loved watching those camaro lights leaving me like I was standing still. They did a head gasket replace on my car, and it's been crap ever since. I've been fighting w/ the dealership for over 2 months now, but I'm getting stone-walled. I may sell my car and try to get into an '01 or '02 car. Save myself $400 on an LS6 intake manifold.

if you cant do it yourself i would have another shop check things out to see if they can find out whats wrong, do compression tests, make sure everythings connected properly, etc., then go to the dealership with your findings and tell them to fix it.

You know, I've tried that too. The problem is, the car still feels fast to the guys doing the work. It sounds normal, and it's not throwing any codes. The guy told me there wans't anything he could find wrong with the car off hand. Instead of paying for 4 hours of troubleshooting for the same answer, I just decided to leave it at that. I should go buy a compression checker though. I got rid of my old one while I was still in NC.

GREEN, you're not the first guy to come out and stand behind his Pacesetter Y pipe. I wonder if they have fixed their problem, or if there are two seperate batches or what? From what I see now, it's hit or miss. 50-50 on who liked em, and who hated them.

Are you using the 3" Y, or a 2.5" Y? I'm wondering what the 3" would do to the clearance.

Default O2 sensors

MY friend just put a set of LT on his 99 WS6 and they had to beat the heat shield back on the drivers side becaus ethe O2 sims would not fit in. Other than that they went in quite nicely.

If you are looking to put LT's on your car and you are not going to run cats with them you will need to get some O2 sims, the O2 sims go right where the LT's bend to go into the collector. its an easy opperation so dont sweat too much.

I am not sweating nothing. I have LT's and I am not running cats. I did not have to bend anything to make the O2 simulators fit anywhere. They just plugged up and that was it.

I would consider yourself lucky then, I followed my friend up to stone mountain and the whole install was supposed to only take like 3 hours. We wound up staying there for about 10hrs. The guys that were puting them on said that they had to get a crow bar and bend the LT's so they would fit up to his exhaust. Pain in my *** but the sound that that loud SOB is now producing was well worth the wait.

Is this with the new Pacesetters? The install only took my brother and me 2 hours. Most of the time was spent taking off the stock manifolds and such.

O2 simulators do not go into the headers? They replace the rear O2 sensors if you run an ORY. They do not hook into anything besides the wiring harness, iirc.

I'll be going with a catted Y anyway. Can't thank you guys enough for the input. LOL I hate to even bring this idea up after all the discussion, but I may be getting some Mac Mid's. The Catted Y from TSP put me over budget, and these Mac's might fill in nicely. Would headers from a '98 car plug in okay to my '00? What a schmuck I feel like. :embarased:

The 98 style would work except for the emissions tubes, and seeing how you're talking about cats...it won't work.
