Default what size electric cutout?

Hey guys! I have an LS1 stock with slp loudmouth and I was wondering what size cutout I need to get? I think the loudmouth is 3 inch pipe but I guess I have to weld the cutout after the y-pipe just befor the rear axle. I want to make sure I buy the correct size cutout for my setup. Another question I have is which cutout to get? I'm leaning towards McCrd or Qtec. Any info will be great! Thanks!

Qtec is great. Where do you want to put the cut-out. Do you want it on the y-pipe after the cats (that would be a 3 inch since it would be on the LM piping.

I guess it will be on the loudmoutn piping so you're right, I'll need a 3 inch electric cutout. Thanks.

Why did you decide to do this? For a change in the sound? Loudmouth flows pretty well aready, I doubt you would see a gain in power. Not bashing, just curious why you are adding a cut-out to a setup with arguably the best flowing exhaust.

I want to put one on my stock exhaust. I would like to put it in the I pipe. Would I need to put a 3" cutout too?

here's where i put mine on my stock exhaust http://www.stealthram.com/qtpcutout.html

now here's the results gained 11/13 on the dyno.

distance ------- closed ------ open
60ft ----------- 1.987 ------- 2.074
1/8 ------------ 7.902 ------- 7.912
mph ----------- 93.20 ------- 93.97
1/4 ------------ 12.102 ------ 12.080
mph ----------- 117.12 ------ 118.06

no change in ET. lost 60ft to gain mph.
worth it? up to you. louder? yes. annoying after awhile from the exhaust bouncing between the ground and car? to me, yes. mine's coming off as soon as i get a catback. i gained .4 and 2.3 mph putting the borla catback on the wife's 99 formula.

Thanks, I really didnt think I would gain anything but I really just want it for sound. I plan to get a new exhaust later. I hate pulling up to meets and having the quiet car.

My gf asked if I want a cutout for my car so I said yeah why not. Should I invest the money on another mod? Which mod should I get instead?

Well I did an LS1 swap to my 1994 camaro. It's A4 with a whisper lid, slp loudmouth and some suspension mods. Motor has 17K miles when I bought it a couple of years ago. I finally had the time to really work the car so time for some mods. To start off I just want to be around mid to high 12's. Eventually I would like to be in the low 12's to low 11's. This guy at work is already challenging me to a 1/4 mile race. His TT 300Z runs 12.5 so without additional mods on my car I know I'll get beat. I guess I wanted the cutout for sound but I'll pass on it if you guys think I wont benifit on it when it comes to additional power/gain.
