Fans running all the time?
When ARE tuned my car they set up the fans to run all the time (although I realize they will shut off once you get up to about 50mph) I'm just worried one of them will burn out eventually, although I do love the fact that my coolant never goes above 194 now, even when stuck in traffic a very long time. This also means my oil temps never get much hotter than 207 unless I'm driving hard for long periods.
frequent too. Been this way since maybe 5Kmiles, I'm up to
20+K now. No problems so far, fans seem to be for sale all
the time so I'm not too worried about having to replace
them (though doing it on the road would be inconvenient).
I think GM wanted the fans full-time-run-capable, but I
might be overstimating the give-a-**** factor there. I
don't think they will burn out, at least until the bearings
go. I wonder if there is any fan motor PM that should be
done, like disassemble & grease every so often?
I would sure like to find a higher-speed, higher-power
replacement fan motor to help up the airflow, in a
continuous-duty rating.
