I have one waiting to install but I am concerned becasue I don't have the appropriate install tool and don't want to rip the crank threads. How did you guys install yours?

install or take off stocker? to take it off, go to harbor freight and get a puller or go to A-zone and rent one free of charge. to put one on- i held the stock pulley infront of it and hit it with a BHF lightly a few times... then threaded the stock pulley bolt in and hit it with the impact till i got scared, then did it about 10 more seconds. pulled the bolt out, put the new bolt in and set it at 37ft pound then turned it 120 degrees :thumb

Install.....I have the pulley puller. Weren't you afaid of ripping or striping the crank threads?

hey A-Bomb its cool, I think some of the "older" guys here will back me up besides, you dont need a pully...you need more than that to beat me how about a TNT kit? maybe that will help you out a bit more than a pully j/k cuz

You have to buy a 3-jaw puller to get the stocker off...once you've unthreaded the bolt keep it there with about 3 full threads, place the 3 jaw puller in the 3 slots in the stock pulley. you'll see how this works obviously. I used a sledge hammer and a 2x6 to bang on the asp. Thread the asp with the old bolt until you're very close to point of origin. Replace bolt and thread until needed. 250 ft lb..... good luck man...

nope, after i got 3-4 threads in i felt safe enough with it...... i also turned the impact down so it was a slow process

Sometimes you can find packages, i LGM sells a package. Thats where I got mine. Comes with pully, red line syn ps fluid, bolt, and two belts.

In a few isolated cases back in the day it did happen but it could've been a situation where the center hub of the pulley (any pulley not just ASPs) was hitting the aftermarket timing chain/sprocket or something.
Very little of that happening lately with the newer SFI Approved models.
