I'm still liking my catch can setup...A LOT. At my last oil change, I had about a half cup of crap in there. I need to look in my manifold with a flashlight to see how it is doin in there...
Gotta keep my A/C though...I hardly use it, but there are some days in Florida when it is even too much for me. That and the g/f would prolly never ride in my car again.

More overlap=more burnt gas being retained in the cylinder, versus, say, no overlap, intake closed, exhaust open, most ALL the burnt gas will be pushed out rather than being mixed.
I can scan one of my old textbooks if you like. If I can find it

straight from GM:
EGR ELIMINATED
Application of the LQ4 cam produced a valuable side benefit: elimination of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. The new cam creates more valve overlap, or periods when both intake and exhaust valves are partially open at the same time. Increased overlap allows the LS1 to meet National Low Emissions Vehicle (NLEV) certification without EGR. Removal of EGR reduces engine plumbing and potential leak sources

I just removed all my EGR/AIR stuff on Monday and I am a little nervous about inspection (not due until January 2006) but I will have all my codes deleted and hopefully some sort of fake cats under there by then so hopefully they won't notice too much.
