I believe the LS1 intake has bulges on the outside of the bottom, and the LS6 does not. Easiest way to tell them apart.

The old LS1 intake with the EGR setup is 12560688.

The Stock 2001-2002 F-body LS6 is 12561184.

The Z06 LS6 is 12573572.

These are the numbers stamped on the manifold

kinda hard to tell from those pics.
but from the 2nd. pic. it looks lick a ls1, because of the coolant line
that runs between the two heads and Ts. off and gose under the intake,
i dont think that the engines that the ls6 intake came on had that coolant line.
they had the newer coolant line that did not T. off and go under the intake.

From the pics, it doesn't even look like an intake.

This is how you tell the difference. The LS1 is on the left.

Default Confusing ...

I have a '99 T/A and my wife has '02 T/A. I just physically looked at both T/A's and my intake is GM Part# 12556333. Her's is GM Part# 12573572. Neither intakes have been chnaged. DaleMX just said that GM Part# 12573572 is the intake number for the LS6 Z06 ... not so in this case. Is there an accurate list of GM Part #'s that tells what the real deal is for each year model? Did the assembly plant just put different intakes on the later year 2002's because they ran out of the regular 2001-2001 intakes? [... maybe since they weren't going to make F-bodies anymore.]

The part no 12556333 is the old part number for the LS1 intake used on the Vette fron 97-00 it changed numbers in 00 to a 12557846 then in 01 to a 88894095. first was 12561184 in 2/00 it changed to 88890523 it then changed to 88890524 then god knowes why back to 88890523 then on 2/02 it changed to 88894339.

basically they changed the numbers around alot.

Default Agreed Mstngkiller

Thanks to Mstngkiller for the detailed explanation for the LS1 intake progressive changes. Anyone know why my wife's 2002 T/A is GM Part# 12573572? It was said that this is the GM Part# for a LS6 Z06.

The F-body LS6 has a different part # from the Vettes. A while back somebody here said that they are indeed different intakes (f-bod LS6,vette LS6), That he dyno'd both part #'s and the F-body's had better #'s.

They put LS6 intakes on the 2001-2002 TAs
I have a 2002 WS6, it is a LS6 intake as well.

Default Production convenience maybe????

Yeah, I fgured they may have had an overage of LS6 intakes and maybe have used them up on the 2002 F-body's. Or maybe they just figured 2002 being the last production year ... they would just produce the LS6 one across the board. Thanks to all who have replied. If anyone else has any inout to this thread, please provide it. Again, thanks to everyone.

No overages.. they stopped making the "old" LS1 intakes in 2000. ALL LS1/6 motors built in and after 2001 came with a LS6 intake. Corvette and F-body.

There are a few stories of VERY early (7/00) production 2001's having the older intakes... but VERY few.

Default So many different numbers

That would mean they simply kept changing the part numbers depending on which type vehicle or year model the vehicles were? I'm seeing several folks here with different GM Part #'s on their 2001 and 2002 F-body's and 'Vette's. Anyone know if this might be correct?
