Default installed slp lid and now...

my oil gauge moves to the right everytime i get on the gas..is this a problem? i also have the black hose from the stock air box(?) tied down and out of the way of everything in the engine bay..do i need to put an air breather on it? i thought i read that on another site or this one.. if so what is the part # and where can i get one? (or the appropriate part)

this is my first mod i have done to a car ever so your guys help is appreciated..

everything is stock on the car except the exhaust (02 Z28)

yes you need a breather on it or just take the whole air pump system off the car and have it programmed out

i think the only reason you need a breather on it is so you get filtered air into the air pump, but the earlier models didnt even have the hose going to the airbox and it sucked unfiltered air from the factory so it cant be too bad

what it really boils down to is that you got the wrong lid ... SLP makes a lid with the nipple to attach the air hose too

The SLP lid should have a provision to plug the AIR hose (the black hose you referred to) into the lid similar to how it was stock. If you're not doing it that way, you'll have an open hole in the side of your SLP lid. You would need to plug that hole and use a filter on the end of the AIR hose.

No other lid that I'm aware of allows you to plug the AIR hose into the lid. All the others use a filter on the end of the hose.

Ummmm.. it's called your oil pressure is rising because you're pressing the gas.. The guage is supposed to do that

If you are really getting on the gas, yes, it should climb as high as 80 psi on the guage...your oil pressure will also be greater when your car (and fluids) are cold. Like has already been said, oil pressure is a good thing...without it, your car would be dead. It isn't something that most people notice, though, which is why I'm sure you were alarmed.

Another good way to learn about your car is to buy a DIY type book for the LS1. They have every little detail in them and can be pretty helpful sometimes.

I dont know about the DIY book, but you can get a breather at advance or auto zone from the bling aisle for like 9$ of you can order a K&N for it for a bit more $$$. Me, i opted to just fold the hose over & stuff it down under some other lines (but i knew i was going to get the race headers W/O the AIR-EGR provisions in a few months so i didnt care).

I would check at an auto parts store to start, then look online for the book.
