Default Fast 90mm Intake ports?

Has anyone notice the obstructions in the lower left corner of each intake port?

It is 1 inch triangle that stick out ¼” into the port?

Also, the TB opening 1 inch into the intake has a lip of 1/8 of an inch all the way around it.

Is there a reason for this or just a mistake in the molding?

Has anyone tried cleaning up the intake ports and the TB opening?

I would think that these areas could reduce flow numbers.

I would like to clean this up if need prior to installing.

I port matched my runners and removed the hump. However, I did not mess with the TB opening.

They all look the same.
Hope this shows up!

Beast96Z,
Do you have any before and after dyno number or track times?

One speed shop recommended to remove the ridge from the intake runner also.

Silly question. Is that "obstruction" the end of one of the runners?

No, that obstructions is in each runner and stick out 1/4" and stops 1 inch before the runner meet the head.
Look at the pictures I attached above.

I would say deffinately get rid of the ridge in the throttle body opening if it won't cause you to go through the intake and I doubt it would. Hell if you do that is what they make epoxy for. As far as the other ridge I would say get rid of that to; however, it may be there for port bias reasons.

Oh...that. I thought it was something bigger than that. Still, I doubt it is good for airflow.

I've heard it's very good to port match these intakes before you run them. I just got mine done at FMS.

Here is a pic of my port. My TB ring was left alone.

LSUxBlake
Thanks for the picture, now that is a good-looking port.

I disassemble my Fast 90 today and started porting it.
First I remove the obstruction at the outlet of the port just prior to the head and it looks just like the one LSUxBlake picture above.
Also, I notice another large obstruction inside the intake at the beginning of the port that I removed and blended in.
I know that this has to help out the flow number/HP alot!

Anyone else have any picture or recommendations on porting these FAST intakes?

Mine looks the same as the bottom, but I noticed the upper part of yours is cleaned up and rounded pretty good to remove the ridge that goes right below the injector.

Attched you can see the TB opening of the top half of the intake.
Has anyone see any imorovement in blending this area?

Attached is picture of the upper half beginning of the intake runner radius, notice the small ridge across the runner.
I can't think of any reason for that being there can you?
