There are quite a few guys in the truck section using that controller on their aftermarket electric fans. We(truck guys) get a engine driven clutch fan from the factory.

fan on/fan off is only 10 degrees. Not much happens as for 10* in performance or expansion areas.

i was about to say the same thing, i really dont think the fan is gonna nock ~100* off your engine temps like that little flash showed. i think getting a manual fan switch and a 160* t-stat would be much more effective if you dont mind the inconveniance.

Why worry with a manual switch when there are several nice controllers on the market?

What I'm wondering is why a Fbody guy is worried about fan control with aftermarket devices? You guys have alot of control through the stock computer.

When you put a set of fans on a truck the stock computer can be used if it's reprogrammed but, we don't have all the setting available in it that the cars do. With some relays the stock computer works great though.

Yeah

The temp will only go so low anyway even with the fans running constantly.

I got my fans turning on with my 160* stat... lowered my average operating temp to about 195-200. Worth it in my opinion cuz it's not really an expensive ordeal.

Delta contolling is not really cost effective. That is why the OEM's don't use it. They really don't need it. As far a drag car goes, I don't think it will make a diffference over a manual switch. Once you reach 60 MPH+ the air flow is more effective than the fans anyways.

In traffic for a car like your's Mightymouse, I don't see you gaining anything out of it.

I bought (but returned) a Hayden thermostatic fan
controller at Pep Boys, that controls to tank temp.
Then the thermostat controls the block temp with
some authority (if the tank is held lower). The stupid
thing about the F-body setup is, it doesn't start the
fans until it's too late and you have no "cold reserve"
for surge heat.

I am interested in their higher-CFM fans as I think the
OEM ones are kinda weak (see how the temps rise when
you run the A/C on Georgia blacktop).

Not exacty true. The stock fans come on at 226* off at 216*, however with a 180* tstat that means every time you start moving in traffic the temp will drop to 190 or so, then when you stop, back to 226 ect.

That being said, my low fans run all the time so i'll have constant temps.

With a 160 T-stat and tuning, my temps NEVER go above 180 degrees. I will probably get that changed so they can go a little higher because the high fans are on too often.
