Default Flowmaster!!!

My buddy doesn't believe me that Flowmaster is one of the worst cat backs for an ls1 f-body. Can everyone who knows about Flowmaster back me up? State your opinion on what you think is the best.

Yep is sucks. Sounds good, but flows for crap. I have it on my car for quietness, but dual cutouts for insane noise

I forget which model flowmaster muffler flows poorly, but I believe its only one of the models and the rest flow pretty well. Everybody bashes them but you gotta love the sound and honestly I doubt most people would be able to feel the difference between a flowmaster and most other mufflers out on the market but thats just my opinion.

that's true.....i have flows on my 93 camaro, the 80 series muffler...on a scale of 1-10, the 80 series is a 5...it isn't that loud. compared to the original 40 series, i'd give it an 8. it's much louder and sounds more aggressive. BUT ANYWAY, yes the flowmaster cat-backs suck because of the fact that they offer 3 inch piping after the cat, which causes a very nice subtle sound and tone ONLY at idle. perfomance suck because you lose a low-end power. the cause of that? very minimal back pressure and letting loose of all of that air comming out....basically, the car is farting....

People like the sound, but if they want power they add cutouts or avoid flowmaster entirely. There are many many cat-backs and everyone has their own opinion. What do I think is best? GMMG of course.

Don't have any experience with flowmaster but GMMG is the best.

He asked us what we thought was best. Not what we thought everyone could afford. No offense taken.

1st, find me a cat-back that's NOT 3 inches in the I-pipe.

2nd, what the hell? Do you know what you're talking about at all?

Mufflex offers 3.5 and 4 inch.

I have dual 40 series on my 67 and it is one of the best sounding street cars I have ever heard. Might be because its a bored out 400, or the huge cam. But it sounds badass. horrible drone at about 1700 rpm which is fine since it is never in that rpm range.

I was thinking about getting a LM and putting a 10 or 40 series in place of the resonator, not sure how it would sound though.

so i raced this ws6 and smoked it
the ws6 then gets a slowmaster muffler installed,
and i smoked him even worse.

the point of this story is

1. even the stock ws6 muffler is better then a blowmaster
2. disconnecting the muffler on a non-ws6 makes it faster than a ws6,
so,
3. having no muffler at all is better than a flowbastard.

so much for that stupid old wives tale about "backpressure"
maybe a loss below 2800rpm,
but after that, it is EVIDENTLY worth it.
this isnt an opinion to argue with,
its a fact to recognize.

by the way,
best performing exhaust?
any straight-through, i.e. GMMG, loudmouth, dynomax bullet..

and the flowmaster's cheap hollow sound doesnt hold a candle to the GMMG or sweet thunder. do yourself a favor and go hear some exhausts instead of taking pointers from that paisa at the local exhaust shop.
