Post Headers Vs. Stall Help!!!!!!

Ok hey is my thing. i just bought a 98 TA it has a raptor cat-back, lid and stock exhaust manifold. Im limited on what i can get right now, besides all the little free mods and such. Im looking at pacesetters coated headers and Y-pipe ($499.98) or a TCI Super Street Fighter 3500 stall ($479.99). So i guess, how much HP would the headers and y-pipe give and what would my e.t.'s look like (the car runs 13.02 ) i know the stall would not give me HP but how much would it effect mt e.t.'s then the headers. anyone any comments plez

well here is the thing, like you said, the stall won't give you more hp, but it will help your et's a lot more than just headers and a ory will. i can't tell you from experience what my et drop was with each of these mods as i did my pacesetters with 3in duals and tci 4000 at once. but generally the tci 3500 will give you about a 3 to 5 tenth drop, whereas the headers would only be about 1 to 2. this is a rough estimate to due to a number of other things that effect your times like DA, track prep, weather, etc. i assume you are on stock type radial tire so if you get the stall first, which i would recommend, you should also get a drag radial to hook it. but if you do get the stall first, you also have to get a trans cooler, which is another $50 for a good one with 24,000 gvw. it is cheap insurance! so bottom line is pacesetters, the new batch, are good headers for the money, i have them on my car, but the stall is what you should do first. hope this helps!

The stall converter(aftermarket) will knock off more in terms of e.t.s than any header could dream of!!! It is the number 1# best mod for an a4. I went from 13.3x to 12.90 from t.c. alone. Thats a good choose you made.If you do alot of dragracingat the track and have drag radials I would get it on a 2.5 str.

get the Stall first!
And can STR even be accuratly determimed? isnt the 2.5 more of an estimate then a real number.
found this on precision industries(vigilante) website

http://www.converter.com/torqueratio.htm

just wonder if TCI can measure it.

some companies like yank and tci test their TC's and know the true STR. TransLS1 don't go any smaller than a 2.5 str. from what you have told us, stick with the tci 3500 with the 2.5str, it will work great for your application.
