Is Bo a sponsor? Can I order a ported throttle body from him and, when I get it, just send him my stock one? Thanks in advance for the info.

i did my own, it was worth it. noticed a little better throttle response. its def a building block type of mod, gets better results as you add mods that improve airflow ie headers cam etc

I just put on my Shaner S3 with an LS6 intake. I haven't gotten on it yet, but I noticed an immediate difference in throttle response and a slightly deeper exhaust note.

Anyone know what the physical differences are between a Shaner S2 and S3?

The S3 has more porting done then an S1 or S2. Shaner describes the performance differences of each on his website, but just go with an S3 no matter what for the most gains. Type in "shaner throttle body" on Google and you'll find his website probably 2nd down.

Err.. Is it just the way the pix are taken, or is the throttle blade on the opposite side of the shaft now?

No, that is what it looks like after the half shaft mod is done. The front part of the shaft is no longer there.

I home ported and epoxyed this weekend. Then I used my predator to reset the TB with an added 2% off of idle to smooth out the cold idle. Crisper throttle response butt dyno agrees but I will have to wait for some real #s!

I ported my own. I chucked it up in th elath at work and machined the bottleneck in front of the throttle blade. I then sandblasted the entire TB inside and out. I have done the 1/2 shaft mod and thinned the throttle blade as well as done the bump stop. Mine is maxed out as far as porting it goes. The sandblasting really tore into the material of the throttle body and made everything smooth and consistent.

Now that the throttle body has a smooth satin finish to it I may paint it red. Im thinking with the uniform satin finish left from the sandblasting that the paint should look slick.

I may go back and polish the inside of the throttle body for looks but its not gonna help flow anymore than what its doing now. Its really slick.

It would be interesting to flow a TB with the blade/shaft assembly molded into a complete airfoil shape with Devcon or JB Weld. The Cd of a slim airfoil is as low as 0.08, vs. as much as 2.0 for the sqaure edge of the blade and ~1.2 for the cylindrical shaft. This means that if the blade was radiused at the leading edge and knife-edged at the rear and the airfoil was the thickness of the stock shaft, the drag might be less than 10% of stock... Now, if one could be sure that the filler would stay stuck...
Oh yes, one might want to also flow it without the shaft and blade, just to see if it was worth designing a ball valve TB with no obstruction whatsoever..
