Default Two LS6 intakes..Oops, what to do?

I just got my #12573572 LS6 intake in today from SLP for my LS1 project. However, I was comparing it to the intake I already had on my donor engine and found they look identical. The one on my donor is a

#12561184.

I had not done any research on this prior.

My engine is a 2000 model that was out of a car that had a oil pan to ground problem. The engine was replaced, but I am thinking it was replaced with a newer one and they had to take the 2000 model with EGR and put it back on the car. That might explain why the intake was loose from the engine when I bought it.

So...What to do?

Should I ship the SLP LS6 intake back and take the 10% restock fee on the nose, or run it and sell the F body LS6 intake I already had?

Is there a performance difference between the two?

im not following you but check the bottom, if there both flat you have 2 ls6 intakes. if you have to sell one. if you only have, run that and try to sell off the ls1

98 - 00 cars came OEM with ls1 intakes, 01-02's got the ls6.

I realize this is confusing. I am putting this LS1 in my 69 Camaro. I bought the LS1 from a mechanic that had taken it from a 2000 trans am that had been stolen and damaged in a police chase. The pan got a hole in it. The engine was still running and they were at first only going to install a new oil pan. They decided not to do so and insurance bought a used engine. My guess is the used engine was newer. They put the used engine in the 2000 trans am and had the original block left over. I assume the junk yard did not want it back as a core as it appeared to have a rod through the bottom since there was a huge hole in the pan. The dealer had to scrap the motor and sold it to me for $400.

As I said, the intake was not bolted down.

I yanked it open and found #2 and #3 main burned from running without oil. I picked up a crank kit yesterday and am about ready to put the bottom end back in (rings, bearings, seals, etc).

I never really looked at the intake assuming it was a LS1. It does not have a EGR port and the bottom is flat. The engine also had the front water pass over tubes that SLP sent me with the new LS6 intake.

So, it appears I have TWO LS6 intakes. The question is: Is there a difference between the two that would make one more favorable than the other...thus resulting in either returning the one from SLP, or just getting rid of the one I had already??????

If you are sure the other intake is an LS6 intake I would just send it back to SLP. You will get a better return on your money that way. I suppose you paid about $400 for the SLP unit. Well, with your restocking and shipping you should get back about $330 or so. You won't get that for a "used" intake on here.

After reading the attached link (search) to an old post I searched for the intake you have! Read away! Return the SLP!!See post #11 in this link!

Talked to SLP today. Great folks!

We are going to swap out the LS1 intake for a set of flow tested 35# injectors and 160 themostat.

I will run the F body LS6 intake I already had and be good to go.

Thanks for the help in sorting out what I already had.

Should still work out great as the injectors I got with the motor have been sitting for lord only knows how long, and smell like old rotten gut fuel.

I have to get the PCM programmed for the Stage III head/cam combo anyway, so I might as well make sure the injectors are up to the task.
