Cut-out cap blow off! Where can I get another one???
I was driving on the highway with my cutout, capped then I down shifted to 4th to pass, and the lid start to open (could tell by the sound of the exhaust),
so before I could slow down and tighten it, it blew of into the ditch. This is a manual 3" cutout. Does anyone know where I can get a new cap, gasket and 3 wingnuts?

The thickness should be heat resistant and all it needs to do is block the exhaust air flow. I would say 1/2" to an inch thick should do the trick.
Good Luck!

a full inch thick? you realize how thick of a metal plate that is?
go to any welder's shop and they should be able to hook you up with some scrap metal for free. 1/8's steel sheet will do(appx thickness of cardboard) and do psykoTA said. cut it out and drill some holes. then pick up another gasket and 3 wing nuts.

Just like cyphur-traq said with the welding shop but 1/8" is kinda thin.I think the original cap is 3/16"or 1/4" think to prevent warping. Maybe next time use some lock washers with the wing nuts to keep them from rattling off again.

LOL @ the full inch thick plate steel doing the trick! Seriously, when was the last time you saw a melted and warped exhaust pipe? You simply dont unless it was heated with a torch. Exaust pipe is 1/16 thick. Thats probably the thickness the original plate was as well. Stepping up to 1/8 is already plenty. Some time with a grinder and a drill is all it takes. Good luck grinding through that inch thick plate steel It would be easier to cut your lawn with tweezers.

wow, look at all the replies.... All you need is an exhaust block off plate for a 3" flange. ANY decent exhaust shop should have one of these and it will be less than $35 unless they are idiots trying to rip you off. Should cost about $5. As for wingnuts just go to any hardware store and pick some up. Why do people try to overcomplicate things?
