Default exhaust cutouts

im sure this is a tired subject but im drunk and dont feel like searching for 30 minutes sry

im about to order a magnaflow catback for my 2001 silverado 5.3. im getting the big quieter muffler (5x11x22) because i drive 500+ miles per week (all frwy) and cant have interrior noise driving me crazy! i was thinking the catback for good quiet performance on the highway but a cutout for when im in the mood to scare children and old people.

this is my first experience with cutouts. the only thing that scares me is that ive heard that electric cutouts leak air when closed. is that true and is it noticable soundwise?

also if anyone is in the mood to save me alot of search time, can someone list out a few manufactorers that make Stainless steel 3" cutouts please

thanks for the help

I'm in the same boat as you. Big, quiet Magnaflow muffler for normal days, and wanting a cut out for those "other" times. Is you truck a regular or extended cab? There's not a lot of straight pipe under my truck for a cutout, but I hope to find room.

I like the big muffler sound, very quiet on the highway and cruising. No drone at all. But a nice sound when I mash it. With an extended cab you'll probably have more room for the cutout than I do. In fact, when I bought my exhaust, I was shipped an extended cab system instead. But at 10 pm at night, with the stock exhaust cut into pieces to facilitate removal before I realized what happened, I had to make the extended cab fit my regular cab. I cut a fairly long section out of the piece between the cat and muffler.
