Default Weiand intake or LS6 intake?

I've read just about every post on the Weiand intake between here, ls2.com and ls1.com. Some same the heat soak is a problem, some say it isn't. Still not sure what to believe.

I may have an opportunity to pick up a Weiand for WELL below what I could pick up a used LS6 intake. If I were buying one at normal price, I would most certainly go for the LS6, but seeing I may be getting a killer deal, I'm not passing it up. So the question is, should I just keep the Weiand, or should I try to sell it for the price of a used LS6 intake and then buy a LS6 in it's place?

I do like that it is easily ported, and easily tapped for direct port. Certainly nothing I need right now, but possibly later down the road. So what do you all think? Is it worth the trouble of buying the Weiand, selling it, and then buying a LS6, or should I just slap it on and call it good? Also, unlike some people whom purchase the Weiand, I could care less about the looks, I'm more interested in performance.

It can't hurt to install the Weiand then dyno the car for comparison. If you gain power good. If not, get the LS6. Personally I'd go with what is proven to work. There are mixed results with the Weiand, but I haven't heard anyone complain about the LS6 yet. I'd be real surprised if you picked up more power with the Weiand vs. the LS6. Then you have to look at $$$. Is the money you save worth the power loss?

its up to you really, im sure you could pawn off the weiand for a decent amount of money to someone who doesnt know better, or care for that matter.

how much are you able to get the weiand for?

Get the LS6. Heat soak is everpresent in aluminum manifolds.

I have a thought on this matter. I too have been wondering the same thing .
Now for me, I like the idea of the look as a lot could care less.

Having said that, If they flow" relatively "the same as an ls6, then the heat soak seems to be one of the main negatives..right?

Well, maybe this is a dumb question but, couldn't one jet-hot coat the intake manifold? Their claim is to lower header exterior temps as well as increase flow, so ,if true, wouldn't this greatly reduce the heat soak factor..if any?

thanx...Im all ears

I'd just get the plastic and not worry. The only reason I see for using the metal is for show car senarios. Having a polished or chrome intake for the bling factor.

why would anyone spend 600 bucks on a 30lb intake that will gain only 15hp
when you can get a 300 dollar, 2lb intake that will gain the same?

its not that hard of a decision is it?
