ASP Underdrive Pulley?
I am planning on keeping my stock stereo setup, and all that jazz, i got a 6 disc cd changer and base sound, but wondering if the underdrive pulley will rob from that or not, also what are typical gains and how much does your sound system normally really change? Also what are other consequences of this pulley?

It most likely will, you will need to purchase the alternator pulley, the smaller one i believe so that it will help the charge better s that the Underdrive crank pulley doesnt take away form your system

Don't worry about the alt overdrive if your a 6 speed. I've had my ASP in for two years now and never had a problem. If you have a really big sound system in the car, then yea, might want to overdrive the alt. Otherwise, M6, forget it.
As far as Hp gains, at least 10-15 rwhp. Give or take. I notice a big difference all through the rpm band when I installed mine. I noticed a dramatic difference in power in 3 different mods right away: ASP pulley, LT headers, and cam. Everthing else was graduale gains.

I have a ASP Pulley. Here is my sound system setup.. http://members.dslextreme.com/users/2000ss/audio.htm
Everything works great. The only thing is if you're sitting at a stoplight with the tunes CRANKED, the voltage will begin to dip and lights will dim. I never BUMP the stereo at a stoplight like that anyway so it really is a non-issue.

stock system he said....yes you wont have any problems. My car idles a bit low, and with the ASP pulley sometimes my turn signal blinker wont blink unless I can get the RPM's up a little bit. low charge to the gauge cluster when idling

Yeah, I missed that stock system part. Put it like this if its over 1000 Watts, get the pulley. For some of you guys who dont have it, couldn't that also be because of your Camshaft raising the idle, helping turn the alt. pulley faster then it would at stock idle speeds? Just curious.

I'm getting conflicting info on the ASP. I'm about ready to buy it, but I have a near 2000watt setup in my car now. It runs just fine as is now and I only have a catback and lid on right now.
I noticed that you guys say that if you have a high output stereo then it would be wise to get the underdrive pulley. Yet on the sites that sell the pulley, they say the opposite. They say if you drive a lot in traffic or you have a high output stereo, do NOT get the alternator pulley. Or are they talking about the underdrive and you are talking about the overdrive?
Also, how hard is this pulley to change? Simple hand tools? Or are you going to need Air tools to get the pulleys off?

just need the right 3 arm puller that pulls from the inside.. and something to lock the flywheel if it's an A4. if M6 just put it in gear.
personally. if you have a huge system, I wouldnt get the pulley. You would need to get an overdrive pulley for the alternator also. that negates some horsepower from the UD pulley

If you're stock sound. Get the underdrive crank pulley by itself.
If you have a big sound system. Get the underdrive crank pulley AND the overdrive alt pulley. Rock on dude.

I call to GregWS6...having the alt overdrive will not take away the HP! Get the underdrive crank and over drive alt. You'll still get the HP, just maybe 2 less. Of course, that shouldn't matter to you guys with the system, since you already added another 50 pounds of mass to the car already.

Get both pulleys. The ECM needs a constant steady supply of power to work properly. This can greatly affect performance and make later issues hard to diagnose.

I have just the underdrive crank pulley and my car/electronics/stereo work awesome! I say dont get the overdrive alternator pulley unless you are having charging problems. There is no need to spend the money to fix something that isn't broken.
As for the smog thing, I highly doubt they will care that you have a pulley on there, in fact I don't think they check the pulleys.
