well... thats probably because the coupler is transferring too much engine motion to the lid, combined with the way the whisper lid is made is why the latches keeps popping off. A coupler with more slack or a different lid or polyurethane motor mounts (prevents so much engine movement) or a combination of the above will probably solve your problem. In my case i switched from the whisper to the SLP and the clips havent popped since.

By coupler, do you mean bellows? My buddy has ordered a smooth bellows that should be here by Friday.

Tuck the front lip of the lid (between the clips) into the lower airbox. Then fasten the clamps, no more problem.

The whisper lid is one of the better fitting lids on the market.

What kind of blathering babble is that? Nevermind dont want to know. Get it installed and latched properly and it doesnt move.

make sure its actually installed correctly, and fits in place right...then latch it down. if done right, it shouldn't pop out at all.

If you're using an aftermarket bellows, you need to trim it down a bit in length (it's probably too long, therefore shoving the lid forward). If you're still using the stock bellows and the lid keeps popping off, give everything a good hard push back onto the throttle body, then tuck in that front lip and latch it down.

I just put my whisper lid on the other day. I had the same problem especially on the passenger side. Here is what i did, manually hold the clip shut and lightly tap at it with a hammer or equivilent. I used an adjustable wrench because I was too lazy to go to my basement for a hammer. Only a few LIGHT taps are needed. I guess all it did was lessen the bend in te clips so that they fit better. I now have no problems.

Why don't you just put some duck tape around it

The lid should fit fine without a hammer. Make some adjustments and you should be ok.

Hmmm... tape, hitting with hammers, drilling and putting in screws... maybe the whisper lid isn't such a great fitting lid if so many have had problems with it whenever my engine would toruqe over when it revved, the lid would pop off, so you can either do something to prevent the engine from torqueing, prevent the motion from transferring to the lid, or do something to secure the lid... like i already said... blithering babbel or logic? either way, my lid doesnt pop off.

GUYS! Put down your hammers and duct tape and LISTEN.

If ANY lid is "popping" off. You do not have it installed right. PERIOD.

If the front lip of the lid isn't inside the groove in the lower airbox, it will continue to pop off.

It's a classic mistake, most of us have done it, learned and moved on.

Agreed, I did the same thing and this board helped me out. My SLP fits great after I did this.

John speaks the truth!! No need to swap motor mounts just to make sure your lid stays in place....or drill/tape the lid. Just install it properly and you'll be golden.

This is what I have done also. Had to trim my bellows to make it fit since I added the BBK 80mm.
