Lid won't stay SHUT!!!
"A coupler with more slack or a different lid or polyurethane motor mounts (prevents so much engine movement) or a combination of the above will probably solve your problem."

Why don't you just put some duck tape around it
The lid should fit fine without a hammer. Make some adjustments and you should be ok.
whenever my engine would toruqe over when it revved, the lid would pop off, so you can either do something to prevent the engine from torqueing, prevent the motion from transferring to the lid, or do something to secure the lid... like i already said... blithering babbel or logic? either way, my lid doesnt pop off. If ANY lid is "popping" off. You do not have it installed right. PERIOD.
If the front lip of the lid isn't inside the groove in the lower airbox, it will continue to pop off.
It's a classic mistake, most of us have done it, learned and moved on.
