ok, ill try taking a picture of it, its overcast out right now, so I'll see what I can do. Plus, its crack(s) there is one very large one in the center going side to side, and then small ones where the ports are possibly from bolts that hold the coolant tubes down, It was dark out as I was removing the intake late last night.

Default pictures

Here they are, the first two are of the cracks on the inside and outside of the bottom peice of this intake, the last one is from the bolts which caused it. I had to dumb down the quality a fair bit to make them postable, if youd like better quality ones let me know.

Well I was in touch with FAST and good news is I can get a replacement lower half of the intake, which I think I will do.

Secondly, If you look at the pictures, those small cracks appear to be made by the 8 bolts that are on the engine in the intake valley. Now, I read the writeup on how to install this intake, and it doesnt mention anything about removing these bolts does it?

I'm pretty sure the instructions do mention to switch the stock valley cover bolts with the included black button bolts.

Thunder Racing sells the individual pieces of the manifolds. The bottom is $351.

If it was me, I'd bring it to a body shop and see what they'd charge to epoxy it and smooth it out for you. I wouldnt take a chance doing it myself.

I definately dont wanna do it myself, but I still wouldnt want to pay a body shop to do it, Id rather just take that money to buy a replacement peice. Just wish this had never happend and that it was all over.

Yeah...you definitely have to replace the valley bolts with lower-profile button headed bolts...also, judging by the pics, you'll need to change over to the LS6 style coolant pipes and make sure to remove all the clips from the knock sensor wires so that you have only taped wires and the rubber boots...you need as much clearance as you can get. Also, based on what I've heard from you in this thread, I think you'll only be comfortable if you buy a new bottom piece...you will always have doubts if you repair it...just my .02 (I'd be the same way!)

You can get them from a dealer or from most of the sponsors------->

Not sure if these are still current numbers, but from LS1howto.com:

2001+ front coolant pipe - #12568478
2001+ rear coolant plugs - #12562788

OK hear is what you do. Tell the credit card company that the intake was ruined just after you opened up the box. Most credit card co.s have an insurence on the goods you buy. I once bought a glass house window payne for me to replace in my home and I broke it in my car comming home. I remembered the insurance and filed a clame and BAM they credited my account. OH YA, then you send me the intake for half price and I take my chances with it, and we are happy as pigs in S**T.

Woops didn't see you purched it used....... Plan changed.. you buy a new one then contact cc co. and tell them that is the one that broke...... then the above starts. then you sell to me for 35% the price.. LOL just a thought. Kidding of corse.

Wink

Haha, i payed for it with a money order. Then when I got it shipped, I asked for the insurance to be listed at 20$ since I live in Canada and the tax comming across the border would be less. So if I filed a claim with them, Id get the huge sum of 20$. However I wanted towait 3 years I could file a claim with ebay, only to get rejected. LOL. So ya, purchasing a new bottom half is my one and only option. But good thinkin

Plus I dont have credit cards, I do all my dealings in cash. Makes things alot harder, but alot less headache in the end and I know its mine afterwards.

Well I finally received my new lower half of the intake, and all new replacement gaskets while I was at it. Thanks to FAST (comp cams) for helping me out and answering all my questions and having this intake shipped to me as fast as they could. I'll have pics of it on the car ASAP. As far as Im concerned you just cant go wrong with FAST.
