Painting exhaust?
powder coating is one of the toughest ways to go..... practically bulletproof if done right....teh only problem is IF you need to weld somethig up to it...you have to get down to bare metal...and destroy the powercoating in that spot

and I forgot to say....
powdercoating does not do anything for thermal reasons....
meaning the powdercoating will not help like thermal coatings do.....
thermal coatings keep the heat up inside the headers and keep it cooler outside the headers.... this super heating of the inside allows the exhaust charge to move faster...creating a "suction" effect to the heads..pulling out more exhaust gasses..allowing for a "fresher/cleaner" next charge...meaning...more Horsepower
....with just powder coating you will not get this benefit...

....with just powder coating you will not get this benefit... 
when you put it back on...only run the car for long enough to get it warm.... maybe 3 minutes of idle...let it cool for about a half hour and repeat...a few times worth..... basically baking the paint on the headers while on the car...the slow safe way
