As it cools it will return to normal size. Heating it has nothing to do with balance. If the pulley can't handle a 200 deg. temp for an hour it should not be under your hood in the first place.

If no oven at the shop then i dont guess a map gas or propane torch is controllable enough, whould prolly melt the rubber right out like when you do urethane bushings?

I did my older ASP pulley this way. Underhood heat is a lot hotter than 200 deg. so I don;t see a problem.
Never tried a torch. Always took the pulley in the house and baked it. My wife still laughs at this

I called a local tool and die shop and they gave me the number for MSC tool company.
(770) 732-8650
They sold me a 16m rod 2.0 pitch 1 foot for $6.78
Nuts were $0.13
I too bought the longer bolt but the more i read about people stripping out the crank, i want a solid plan B. When i start my cam swap on monday, i would rather not spend my mod time running around town looking for a tap to fix something i shouldn't have broken in the first place.
Just my $0.02.

I have spent the night up putting my engine back in my personal car. I put the pulley (ASP) in the oven and WOW!!! That thing just slid right on. That has to be the easiest pulley install I have ever heard of. No more banging a piece of wood or trying to track down threaded rod for me folks. Just throw it in the oven. It slid on so well that I could tighten down nearly the entire length of the threads by hand. Thanks for the advice!

I will be doing my UD pulley tomorrow and i was hoping someone could walk me thorugh it step by step, since i cant find the instructions on ls1howto. What kind of pulley remover do you use? Rent one from autozone? Is removal where you need the breaker bar and lead pipe or will an impact wrench work? Do i need to buy the longer bolt for installing the new pulley?Etc? Etc?
I can either choose a lift, a friend, and $100,000 worth of tools at my buddys shop or an oven at home by myself? Im thinking the first.
Just want things to go smooth it will be at night so i need to have all the parts ready to go nowhere will be open and i dont wanna get 1/2 way through then be like F---!!!!
