Default Headers...

got an '02 SS and its pretty much stock
savin up for gears, full exhaust, grille, throttle body, and a tune

H/C along with a stall will come in the next year or so

but i am really wantin to do the full exhaust now

header choices are between Kooks and Dynatech
and if i get Dynatechs then i know what cats and a y-pipe to get
but what do i need to get with the Kooks???

in yalls opinion which is more likely to sound better(clean, crisp, aggressive, and not obnoxious):

LTs,cats,y-pipe with a Flowmaster or LTs,cats,y-pipe with GMMG, both exiting out of the center mount exhaust

Kooks has an ory for $240 and a catted y for $509 according to Speedinc website. Dunno what other sponsers prices are.
I think both would sound pretty similar catted or not but id bet most folks would say get Kooks! GMMG would be better than chokemaster IMO

your about to find out not many people would recommend the flowmaster.

There are a couple sales going on in the group purchase section on kooks. you might want to check them out

The flowmaster catback has been proven to loose power time and time again.

The Dynatechs and kooks are both great fitting headers, probably close to the same price w/ catted y's. If you get Kooks, go with their Ypipe setup aswell.

The GMMG is a very well liked catback aswell. I have heard there is a little rasp with LTs, ORY, and the GMMG around 2k, however.

It comes down to how much do you want to spend. Ill lay it out for you right away, if your going to do it.....do it right and the way you want it the first time. I know so many guys that went with the cheaper or smaller or a less proven gain item and all regret not doing it right the first time.

I wouldnt get the Flowmaster to begin with unless you are going to do a true dual. Your in the right ballpark with the Kooks headers and ORYpipe. I have an SLP cat on my WS6 but I want the GMMG, I would get the GMMG if I were you, and also look into maybe a Hooker Long Tube coated with a Y pipe, with that set up into a GMMG, it sounds absolutly amazing. LS1sounds.com has a good variety of different set ups if your interested. Good luck, this is just my advice and opinions.

I had Kooks on my 99, was going to get them for my 02, but came across a killer deal on some Dynatechs. Pics of the dynatechs can be found here.

Heard that from me, give credit where's it due bitch.

There's some rasp from 2k-2500 rpm's, but nothing you can't live with. If you get hi-flow cats you shouldn't have any rasp(I have an ORY).

I like the GMMG over the SLP LM for sound quality. Horsepower wise, i believe if any advantage, the slp would have it, though minimal to begin with.

i've run both the GMMG and the LM, however i think the GMMG sounds a hell of a lot better. i've run the lm on stock manifolds only, and the gmmg on LT's only. so its really not a truely equal comparision, but fwiw the GMMG kicks the **** out of the LM.

never run the GMMG but ive made the mistake of running the LM, w/ an ory, and mac mids on my old 99z A4 it well yall know how it sounded
but for some reason it sounds great on my 95Z 6sp w/ BBK hedders and ory but i did put on a sprial flo in place of the LMs resonator. i dunno.
Anyway 1LE LS1, dont get the flow"choke"master.
Hooker 3in CBs sound pretty good too if you wanna a nice sound and wanna save a lil cash.
