Problem after LT install?????????? Well I just finished my pacesetter LT w/ORY installation major PITA took about 14 hrs. I removed the AIR system, put in NGK TR55s, and am planning on a tune so the front O2 sensors are not plugged in. The car seems a little slower than it was before the headers. Have any of you experienced this and will the tune help. BTW the car is loud as hell

whoa i think u neeed those front o2 sensors in ... u dont need the back ones but im pretty sure u need the front ones in no matter what and most people say dont get it tuned till u get a cam put in if ur gonna get a cam which i dont see why u wouldnt want one lol
Deffinately plug in the front o2's...You will probably need extensions but they need to be plugged in. It's ok to run w/o the rears. You will have the SES light on until you run sims or get the codes deleted...Were the LT's them self hard or the whole process?

i had no issues with my pacesetter, if u do it right they slide right in. i took no extra piece off my car and got it done in less than 3.5 hours. you car is running bad because u unplugged the front o2s so your car has no idea how to fuel itself, NEVER unplug the front o2s

Well got it all finshed I used Corvette O2 sensors for the front and the car is running good now. I now need to deal with a slight banging problem with the y-pipe and the exhaust setup with the loudmouth is stupid loud it sounds like a machine gun.
some of you guys are just friggen super heros. theres no way a guy who has never done a set of ls1 headers can do them in 4 hours, especially alone. just getting the damn gaskets to stay put while threading a bolt can take a lot of time. Realistic, if you have never done them, its an all day affair.

ya, put the 02's back in, and pacesetter's are a PITA, trustme as you might know already, you might experience a little loss of torque in the lower rpm band but it would be very minimal if at all even noticeable.

between the gaskets and the dip stick tube, it can make it longer than you would like lol
I'd get a tune at least to get your A/F in a good range. I just did FLP Lt's and after the car ran pig rich, felt a little sluggish and gas mileage dropped in half. Put it on a dyno with a wideband and my A/F was 11.2:1 and I had gained around 12 h.p, after using the Predator to take away some fuel and bringing my numbers to 12.8:1, gained 35h.p and 21TQ rw sae. Without the cats 40rwhp and 23TQ. Was well worth the money to get the A/F correct. I'd do the A.I.R mod too, to stop the fluttering sounds and to keep your check valves from burning up. Doing the Stage 8 header bolts in mine next week, they slightly back off and might as well do em right. Took me and a friend(he did 90% of the work) about 5 hours, which included removing the catback to cut it to fit the Y, moving the o2 harness, no extensions were used, nothing was in way either, the LT's both slipped up from the bottom in about 5 minutes, even oil dipstick tube was easy to get back in.

Will doing any sort of VE tuning help out with this overly rich condition from the headers?
I've got HPTuners and I can do VE tuning on the car with the narrowbands but I don't want to waste my time if it won't help me out and help to alleviate some of this rich condition. My car went like a raped ape the first night i had the headers on, then as the PCM learned it richened it up and now it's much more sluggish..

I'd recommend getting on a wideband, I don't trust the narrow band sensors and the gain you will get will be worth the extra. Cost me about $150 for the dyno time(9 times and wideband). Plus you can see just where the sweet spot is and get maximum power. I went from 11.2:1 to 12:1 and seen a 20h.p gain, then from 12:1 to 12.8:1 It only increased a couple h.p. To me 20 h.p rear wheel gain is worth it and after I was all done I seen around a 35 rwhp gain and about 21 tQ with the headers and cats and there is more to get with the cats off and the offroad tubes in another 5 h.p. Plus the gas you will save in the long run tuning it right will pay for itself.

I did my first LS1 LTs on my Z by myself on a lift. Granted I have experience with LTs on other cars. That and I did headers on my 3.8 supercharged Impala...that was an experience I don't care to have again... My Z28 took me about 3.5 hours form the time I popped the hood to the time I had it idling behind the shop.
The thing I noticed about my Pace Setters was that the driver's side header had little margin for error as far as slipping it in. I mean the passenger's side had a littel room to play with, but the driver's side I had to pull out, try again several times. It got some interesting words coming from my mouth to say the least.
