Default Possible budget exhaust...

OK, i just found out i'm broke, and i want to get a different exhaust for my car. What i had in mind was some cheap headers and a cutout. I originally wanted to get some QTPs and go true duals, but with my newfound brokeness i have to trim it down quite a bit. The thing is, i may never have the money to do a real expensive exhaust setup. So is this worth doing? What would be a ballpark price? I want an electric cutout though. I will probably put the headers in myself and drive to somewhere that can put my cutout on. What would be a good total estimated price?

You can usually find headers used for around 400 -500 bucks. I got lucky and paid 200 for mine from a friend. A cutout will be around 25-35 bucks, and install will be like 20 bucks. So your looking around 450-600 bucks totall.

TSP has Pacesetters and an ORY pipe for 500.00 on sale. Is this good or should i look for some used headers? My intention is to run with no cats EGR or AIR system since it is cheaper.

Is it worth looking for used ones or is the TSP sale good enough?

Same here. You can get the coated ones for $375.

you can pick up some nice used pacesetters for the low 300's. Thats a pretty nice price if the new 375 price is still a little too high for your budget right now.

try to pick up a set of used TSP duals. There are people that just dont like them cuz they're too loud or want to get rid of them for other reasons. Just gotta be patient.

Maybe post up a WTB thread for duals and headers and Im sure youll get something very decent and save some cash You'll probably end up spending like 600 for a setup like this. Its a nice little save but im not sure how much you can spend right now w/ your budget

The amount i CAN spend is $0. the amount i intend to spend is a bit higher. It looks like if i get the pacesetters and ory from TSP, plus an electric cutout with install will cost $600+. Thats reasonable. It also looks like if i get used pacesetters and TSP TDs it'll cost me $600 plus or minus. I dont want dumps, so i figure i'll keep my stock catback and just upgrade everything else. Maybe if i could get a used set of pacesetters AND an ory for cheap enough, i'd do that, but there doesnt seem to be much price difference.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need a Y pipe with Pacesetters? I'm really not sure. And on the Electric cutout, I paid about $175 shipped for my DMH, and another $20 to get it welded in.

You need a ypipe if you are not doing true duals.

What you need to do, pacesetter headers and y pipe from TSP for 500. You could have that welded up to the stocker. But, you could look into a hooker cat back which are fairly priced and maybe a used one at that.

Man if you're looking for budget then for sure you'll do a cutout. That eliminates the need for a catback because it completely bypasses it...errr...well for the most part.

You're talking and sounding somewhat like I was prior to getting my setup finished. I also wanted a budget system. I've settled with some MACs running into their ORY then a flowtech manual cutout and the stock cat back. I've got two complaints with this setup. One is that it's a tad raspy and I cannot run open cutout unless I want to **** the local authorities off. So to cure my ***** sounding exhaust, when running through the stock cat-back, I replaced the muffler with a better flowing OEM style Hooker Aerochamber. The second is that the fuggin Y-pipe is banging like a bitch. But after the PITA install of some poly engine mounts I'm sure that will be remedied. For the most part I'm pretty happy with the setup. Altogether the setup set me back 430 bones, minus labor which was only $60 total I think. I picked up the headers and Y-pipe used locally for $300. =^) Oh yeah the headers are coated as well! Someday I may graduate to the GMMG cat-back but that will only be to change the tone up a little.

Anyway, that's my story. Hopefully it inspires or at least gives you some kind of idea.

If your on this "serious" budget do not get an electric cut out. Be smart with the money you have and get an electric motor for the cutout when you can afford it.
