I plan on getting long tubes and maybe ory's but i'm not really sure, i've heard from budsin town that removing the cats ruins your gas milage, is this true? Wich header//Y pipe combo do you recommend, The car currently has a borla cat back, thx.

If you want stainless steel headers get either kooks or qtp's. Both are quite expensive though, so be prepared to spend some money. If you just want coated headers get the pacesetters. Very cheap as well, but still a very good header for the money. Y pipe wise, get the TSP ORY, cheap and easy to install, its also adjustable. Since you have the borla you are going to get a lot of rasp from it. Might want to gets some cats to keep the rasp down though.

Removing the cats didn't affect my gas mileage any.......or at least nothing noticeable. Not unlike the 2.73 to 3.73 gear swap did!

Yeah I'm gonna have to raise the BS flag on this one. I'm running a catless Y right now an I just got 23 MPG on mostly HWY miles. When I was driving around town a little I was a little heavy footed as well. So, yeah...tell your friends to give you some proof.

Talking if you don't want to deal w/ rasp...

try the TSP (texas-speed.com) catted Y pipe...you can get coated pacesetters & an ory right now from them for $500...w/ a catted Y, it's $700..
Kooks/QTP are generally considered top of the line, but as mentioned above, you will pay for them (they aren't coated...they are stainless). Good luck either way!!!

Removing cats will not decrease your fuel efficiency. All the cats do is burn off any excess fuel left over after combustion (they also break down pollutants into less harmful forms but that also has no effect on fuel efficiency). If the fuel makes it to the header(s), it's already gone whether the cats burn it or it goes out the tail pipe. If anything, you'll see a slight increase in fuel efficiency since you have removed a restriction from the exhaust system.

I have no cats, and still get 30-32 mpg going the speed limit. But, the t-56 has a huge reason for that.

30-32? The best I've ever gotten is 28mpg, that's on a 1000 mile interstate drive, too.

how severe will the rasp be with LTs and ory? i too have a wide open borla adj but with a one chamber flowmaster in place of the borla muffler

Bad, bad, bad. Flowmaster is bad. Stick with borla, or even switch to corsa. Magnaflow makes great power and it is cheap. Sounds pretty good too. Just don't get a flowmaster. Believe me, the rasp from Borla would be worth the power over a flowmaster.
