I just went to AutoZone and got some vacuum line caps instead of using a screw into it... will that be a problem?

No it shouldn't be a problem, as long as it caps/plugs the line.

Yeah it's capped pretty damn tight.

Good job documenting something that is tucked away and difficult to eyeball.

I got a question about the vacuum line. Where does the other end go I really hate just capping vacuum lines if I dont have too I like to know there the other end goes and just remove it. If anyone knows or has a vacuum diagram please let me know!

ill give my 98-99 perspective on it.

the 98-99 is totally easier than the 00-02 looks. it took me all of about 10 minutes to remove the entire AIR system on my car. it actully took longer to get the splash shield back into place than it did to take the pump and hoses off. on a 98-99 car, you have the pump behind the drivers side fog light, with one hose running up to the engine compartment and one short hose with a plastic filter looking thing on the end of it. mine was broken when i took it off so i cant really tell what it is. anyways, i un bolted the pipes from the manifolds and cut the rubber hoses with a razor blade and snaked them back through the clips and out of the car. at this point, remove the 4 mounting bolts that hold the bracket of the AIR pump to the frame of the car. i had to cut one plastic zip tie on the drivers side fender behind the fuse box to release the hose from the wire loom. take everything and throw it in a pile on the floor and shake your fist and say "**** tree huggers." with great anguish. then remember Al Gore and laugh heartily.

I've got the same question. This only seems to be an issue for 01 and 02 cars if I'm following both write-ups correctly. I just ordered headers and am thinking about deleting the AIR system just to clean up the looks of the engine bay, but I'm nervous also about just capping vacuum lines.

i just did it on my 01 ... i just put a short wide drywall screw into the larger elbow of the hose and it worked fine ... capping vacuum lines is fine, the only way you'll find out where it goes is if you have the engine out, and for just yanking the AIR system its probably not likely you'll do that.

honestly i actually left the bracket on the back on just because i didn't want to dick with it, as well as the little plug on the top of the manifold just because I don't have a flathead screwdriver to get it off not a huge deal

Not much to it really when you remove the plastic in front the of driver wheel you cant miss the air pump it looks like this. There is also a switch to remove seen in that pic next to the pump and a diverter I think it is thats behind that where the hoses go. Then unhook the vac line from the diverter and cap it.

My main concern is the vac line. Just take the "diverter" out and cap the vac line?
