There is also a switch to remove seen in that pic next to the pump and a diverter I think it is thats behind that where the hoses go. Then unhook the vac line from the diverter and cap it.

Great thread! Was looking for a solution to the backfire issue in my C5 Corvette. Only wish some of the pics in this thread still existed. The driver's side air check valve is fairly obvious to spot. If there's another air check valve there, I'm not sure where it is. (I hope it's not the thing at the back of the engine compartment between the engine and the firewall!)

Guys,
My name is Rick (Last_Z) and I started this thread quite a while ago. I got rid of my car back in October 06. I made the mistake of accidentlly deleting the pictures for this project. I do apologize as I didn't know how many people are still interested in removing their AIR systems.
I ask that those who have done this mod, post their pictures and help others out.
Again, I apologize for leaving you all hanging!
Rick

A couple of questions:
The '02 doesn't have EGR?
Would the AIR system have anything to do with running too rich in lower RPM's/start-up?
It really has very little to do with drivability, right?
Thanks!

My EGR was already removed so I decided to stop being lazy and take off the AIR tonight. I followed the two guides on here and still have one question. The plug that goes into the back of the switch on the intake manifold is it alright that it is just dangling there? I have had the EGR/AIR codes deleted through a dyno tune and I capped the vaccum line with a screw. I'm hoping tomorow my wideband will start reading correctly and no more backfires. I just want to make sure it is ok for that plug to just sit there. Oh and the bolt was murder on the back of the head!!!!!!! 15 MM open end racheting wrench made the job alot easier, go GM for bolt placement!!

what the hell i need to take it out but i dont get how to get it out on a 01 z28 i think the best solution since there is no damn write up is to cut the hose as far as possible then hcap the hose....im not to abouto **** around back there fpr a;; that work
