please help, engine wouldn't turn over! After work today I went to start my car and the lights were on but nobody was home. The guages lit up fine, but it was like I wasn't pushing in the clutch. The starter didn't even click. After a few failed attempts including resetting the alarm, I ended up pop-starting it in 2nd gear...real easy by the way, but that's not the point. So anyway, I shut it right off and tried again, and that time the starter cranked over normal and she started right up.
I need to make sure this doesn't happen in a BAD PLACE! Any ideas what might have caused it?

Things to consider:
Clutch switch beginning to wear out
Started relay beginning ""
Starter itself beginning ""
Battery or battery cables ....
If it is the battery, then double check the alternator. Because that's 99.9% of the time the reason the battery went.

I'm willing to bet money that it is the resistor on your ignition key. I had the same thing happen on my car and it baffled me for a while. I cleaned the key good and carried a spare just in case, but I never needed to even use the spare. That was the culprit. Was the "security" light flashing in the gauge cluster?

didn't notice security...anyway I was suspecting the clutch switch, but because it worked fine after I pop-started it, it made me think it's some computer issue, the resistor theory sounds interesting...
